Chapter 4

“Zaharra your mom is calling you” Noah said standing on the library’s doorway.

Jared got up and put the chair we he had gotten it from and followed Noah. Lexi could hear her mom’s voice as they approached her office. Once Noah, Jared, and Lexi walked into the room Leo and Mrs. Evans stopped talking.

“Lexi, something came up and I have to go you are going to stay with a friend of mine okay?” Mrs. Evans walked across the room to her daughter.

“Yea do I pack?” the look on her mom’s face made her worried it was a combination of anger and sadness.

“Yes, Noah and Jared go with her I still need to talk to Mrs. Evans” Leo said as he opened the door.

Lexi led the way to her room as the two boys followed behind her. Once in her room she went to her bed to get the suitcase from under. Then she went to her closet to pack her stuff. While she did this Noah sat in her bead looking at one of the books she had in her nightstand and Jared sat in an armchair using her laptop.

“I’m ready, let’s go?” she said as she looked from one boy to the other.

They got up and walked down to her mom’s office. She walked in while Jared and Noah left down stairs. Her mom was sorting some papers in her desk.

“Ready to go?” she asked as she looked up.

“Yea” Lexi walked up to her mom and hugged her “I’ll call you when I get there”

“If you have time, take care honey I love you” Mrs. Evans said as she walked Lexi out.

Outside there was a black Lincon that blended with the night, the light from the opened door was the only thing that helped make out the shape of the car. Leo took Lexi’s suitcase and signaled her to get into the car. Jared got out and let Lexi in then got in next to her.

“Are you ever going to talk to me, why are you even mad at me?” Noah leaned over me to talk to Jared.

“I’m not mad at you” Jared said irritated.

“Yes you are, you are avoiding me” Noah said as he leaned over some more

“No I’m not I just don’t got anything to talk about” Jared said as he leaned on the door

“Then why, oh I see you are worried because you think I see you weak cause Leo beat you” Noah said like if it had being in front of him and he barely saw it.

“No” Jared responded defensibly

“Jared I know you are strong and I know you can kick my ass every time without breaking a sweat you don’t have to worry about me looking at you as you are weak” Noah said leaning back to his seat.

“Good to know” Jared said as he turned and looked out into the black night.
