“I thought you said your house was a few blocks up this street” Noah complained
“I know Lexi we have being walking for almost five blocks and they aren’t small blocks” Roxie added
“I never said it was a few like less than five, we still need three more streets up” Lexi clarified
“If you dint walk so slow then we probably get there faster” Noah told her
“It is not my fault I twisted my ankle I can’t put too much pressure on it” Lexi informed them
“I told you I would carry you” Jared told her
“But you wanted to be all macho woman and not take his offer” Noah teased
“Come on just let me carry you?” Jared asked
“No I can walk” Lexi refused
“Okay we get it already you are a macho woman now just let him carry you there so we can get there faster” Noah told her
“No I can-” she was cut off when Jared picked her up. His arm was wrapped around her back and the back of her knees.
“Sorry, but I’m really tired and hungry” Jared told her
“Fine but hurry cause I’m tired too” Lexi gave in. they all speed up and reached the corner of the third street in no time.
“Left” Lexi ordered
“How many streets from here?” Roxie asked
“Two” she informed them.
“Is this were your mom used to buy you your cakes?” Jared asked as they passed a bakery
“Yea” Lexi told him. For the rest of the walk home they were quiet.
“It is this one right?” Noah who was up in front asked
“Yea” Lexi said
“How do we get in?” Roxie said inspecting the huge metal gate
“Actually I never thought off that before you would ring the bell and my mom used to open it, but there is no one inside to push the button” Lexi explained
“Then we jump the gate” Noah suggested
“I can’t jump the gate, I could barely walk” Lexi reminded them
“Oh, then I’ll go to the top and Jared passes you to me and we wait up there until he jumps it and then I’ll pass you back to him when he is in the other side” Noah expressed
“I think that might work” Jared said
“Kay then we do that” Noah said already climbing the gate door
“Thank you for taking my opinion into consideration, you are very kind” Lexi told them
“Fin then what is your idea?” Jared asked her
“We use the employment door on the side, mom never used to looked it” Lexi remembered
“It does seem easier” Roxie said
“Where is it?” Noah asked jumping off the gate
“On that side” Lexi pointed to her left
“Let’s go then” Roxie led the way. Just as Lexi said it was unlocked Mr. Evans never used to look the door since the cleaning ladies came in and out every day, and she didn’t want to give them a key. Once inside they made their way to the front door.
“There is a key behind the block” Lexi informed them, pointing at a block in the wall. Roxie removed the block and took the key that was behind it. She handed the key to Noah and then she put the block back to its place. Inside her house looked so desolated. It seem like nobody had been here in the longest.
