Chapter 8

“Is this your room?” Lexi asked Navelia

“Yes” Navelia replied as she started to pull clothes out of a dresser and threw them on the floor. This room was huge it was twice the size of her room back home.

“Want to help me get dress this dresses are difficult to get into?” Navelia asked as she walked to the bed to lay down the dress

“Wow, that is so elegant” Lexi said as she saw the beautiful golden dress that was divided into two sections the top and the bottom layers.

“Here hold this end” Navelia gave her the top layers of the dress and disappeared under the many layers of the dress. After five minutes of struggling with the layers of the dress the layers were finally on its corresponding places

“Where did you leave the top of the dress” Lexi looked around for the top

“I put it back in the closet” Navelia said pointing at the closet “but I first need to put on my corset”

“I have no idea how to put this on”

“Don’t you wear corsets?” Navelia asked curiously

“No” Lexi stated as she handed back Navelia her corset

“Then come on lets go to my sister’s room and you can pick out a dress” Navelia was already halfway out

This room was way bigger than Navelia’s room and it had more furniture.

“can you put on my corset and can Zaharra borrow a dress? She is my new best friend I met her today in the garden she is friends with Jared”  Navelia went to her sister’s closet

“Hi, my name is Mia” Mia introduced herself

“Oh, you are Jared’s girlfriend” Lexi felt stupid asking is she was she was Jared’s girlfriend

“Yeah, how long have you two being friends I don’t believe I have seen you before” Mia went up to Navelia and adjusted Navelia’s corset then went to her dresser

“Not long, its my first day in the underworld” Lexi went up to Navelia to help her with the top she was struggling with

“Here, you will look gorgeous in this dress” Mia said as she handed Lexi a beautiful teal blue dress

 Mia and Navelia helped Lexi get into the bottom of the dress then she felt Mia’s hands go around her waist as she put the corset on her

“I don’t want a corset, the dress is enough” Lexi said taking off the corset

“But you will look fat” Mia stated and then put the top on her “Okay come sit here”

As soon as Lexi sat Mia started to powder her have and then added blush, eyeliner, and eye shadow. As soon as Mia was done Lexi got up and walked up to the mirror that was hanging in the wall. She could not believe how she looked; she looked so beautiful she wished her mom could see her, her light skin tone made the dark teal blue stand out, her grey eyes now reflected the color of the dress and looked blue.

“You look so beautiful and you don’t even look fat” Mia stated

“Mia is Lexi here?” Jared had came into the room

“Sorry I left, Navelia invited me to the ball tonight and she brought me here so I could borrow a dress from Mia” Lexi apologized

“You look so different, I was about to ask you if you wanted to stay but I guess we are going to stay” Jared could not take his eyes off Lexi

“Hi, to you too Jared” Mia said with an irritated voice and hugged him

“I should go, I bet you two want some time alone” Lexi excused herself out and left

She didn’t know where Navalia had gone to she had left when Mia was doing her make-up. She decided to walk around, she passed some double doors that looked familiar to her, then she remember that they were the patio doors the ones Jared had opened to go to the garden. She decided to go to the garden she had not yet finished looking at the garden when Navelia took her inside. She started to walk through the garden looking at the diamond flowers. The heels that Mia had put on her were killing her so she sat in the first bench she saw.

“Don’t you look dazzling” Sebastian sat next to her

“And you look dashing in your tux” Lexi complemented him

“what are you doing out here all alone” Sebastian said turning towards Lexi

“I was with Navelia but then she left me with Mia and then Jared came and I decided to give them some alone time and I couldn’t find Navelia so I came here” Lexi explained herself

“I’m guessing you are staying for tonight’s ball”

“Yup but I’m starting to get second thoughts” Lexi leaned against the back of the bench

“Why haven’t you heard Atlanteans are well known for throwing the best balls ever?”

“Well today is my first day being in the underworld, plus I’m going to be all alone I don’t know where Navelia is at and Jared is going to want to be with Mia” Lexi said knowing that that was not the excuses for not wanting to be here, she didn’t want to see Mia and Jared together.

“If I stay with you the entire time will you stay?” Sebastian asked

“Maybe” she knew it was still a no but she could not say why he was Mia’s brother

“Then come on the ball is about to start and we don’t want to be late” Sebastian said standing up and stretching out his arm to offer his hand to Lexi.

They walked into the house and down a corridor and into a huge room decorated with many golden statues it was half full.

“That up there is the my father the king and on his right my mom the queen and all around them their personal assistances” Sebastian said pointing toward his parents. “Come on lets go get our seats” Sebastian said walking toward a table where Jared, Mia, and Navelia sat at.

To Lexi’s bad luck she got the seat next to Jared. “Isn’t this awesome your first day in the underworld and you are at a Atlantis’s ball?” Jared said as Lexi sat next to him

“Yeah, this place is really nice” Lexi said trying not to look at him.

After a few minutes Atlanteans came out with big plates of food and served. They eat and Sebastian talk to her about the history of the city. Then the servants came out again to clean up the food. Everyone around the tables got up and pair up to go dance Lexi went with Sebastian, Jared with Mia, and Navelia with a guy that asked her.

“Want to go outside to the garden I hate this balls but I’m expected to stay?” Sebastian asked Lexi once they stopped dancing

Lexi nodded and started to walk towards the garden. When Sebastian opened the door for her she saw Mia and Jared hugging in a bench and Navelia was sitting in another bench looking at the sky.

 Once Jared saw Lexi pass trhough the door he let go of Mia and looked up at the sky. Then he looked down at the watch he had on his hand and turned to talk to Mia.

“Lexi we should start going before the island goes under water again” Jared was now standing next to Lexi.

Lexi nodded and went to sit next to Mia. “Mia, can you help me take this dress off?”

“Keep it as a reminder plus it looks so much better on you it was so nice to meet you”  Mia hugged her

“Bye Lexi you better come visit me very often” Navelia said hugging her good bye

“Here” Sebastian said giving her a diamond rose “a little reminder of me and Atlantis”

Lexi took the diamond flower and hugged him good bye. Lexi and Jared started to walk across town to get to the Pegasus they had left on the entrance gate.

Once they reached the entrance gate the island started to go down under water again. Once again Lexi lost her balance and was about to fall when Jared catched her. She went to her Pegasus and tried to get on but it was impossible with the dress. Jared help her get up on the Pegasus and they flew back to the institute in silence.
