Chapter 42

“You sure you want me to do this?” Ash the high warlock asked

“We ready” Roxie answered for us

Ash began chanting some words and fog rose from the floor and rose to make a sphere around us. Through the fog I could see the fire of the candles surrounding the fog sphere grow more intense. More and more fog kept rising from the floor until nothing outside the sphere was visible. I felt someone grab my hand and squeezed. I wanted to look and see who did but I was mesmerized by the fog spinning around us.

The fog began to disappear little by little until it all disappeared. “Did it work?” Noah wondered.

“You tell me” Ash said who was now sitting in a nearby armchair with his cat on his lap. The cat jumped off and he stood up.

He walked toward us with those long legs. The way he moved reminded me of a panther circling its prey. As he neared us he seemed to grow taller and taller.

“It work pretty well if I don’t say so myself” he smirked. Now we where shorter than him; when we came in before I was taller than him by three inches now I stood next to him two feet shorter than him.

“What about our faces?” Jared wondered

“That is simple” Ash went to the closet that was behind us and swung the doors open reveling three human skins.

“I am not getting in that” I yelled and jumped backwards getting away from the skin

“Don’t worry it is not real human skin” Ash assured me “It is made of ballistic gel with a little bit of magic”

I neared it cautiously. I felt like real human skin but at the same time it felt surreal. We all slipped into the skins and waited for Ash to zip us up.

“I connected a sensor to your brain so that when someone touches the ballistic gel you feel it or else the humans will know something is wrong with you guys” Ash informed us as he inspected us

I punched Noah in the arm and waited for a reaction. “Ouch” he reacted late

“With time it will not take so long to feel that” Ash confirmed

“This is amazing” I replied looking at myself in the mirror.

I had light skin that looked like porcelain. I know had light brown eyes with flecks of green in them. I had long curly eyelashes that complemented my new eyes. Just above my eyes ended my bangs; soft straight from side to side covering my forehead. In the middle of my face I had a cute nose not too big and not too small just right; on either side I had high cheek bones that gave my new face a sharp petite look. I now had big full lips with two beauty marks under my bottom lip and above my chin. I touched my new hair which was long just above my butt; it was now a shade of light brown with natural flowing curls. I loved how it felt silky and no matter how much I moved it all landed back on its perfect spot. I looked down at my hands I had long fingers at the end of my new big hands, my wrist was small like a small child’s. My arms looked fragile but I could feel they were strong.

I looked over at Roxie who also was inspecting her new body. She had brown skin tone skin, dark Asian brown eyes, and a cute button nose with a beauty mark to the right of her nose, long black hair as long as mine and also silky but unlike mine hers was straight. Jared was Asian also but unlike Roxie he had fair skin with dark brown eyes and wavy hair what was long, just above the nape of the neck, front he front he had bangs all across slanted to the right; from all four of us he was the tallest.  Noah also had fair skin with a buff look to his face that was incapable of smiling.

“Okay here are some quick background information” Ash went back to sit on the armchair “Noah your name now is Ryan you were born in England and moved here three years ago, before going to the school you are going to go to you went to one Melvin High School in Maine and you are 5.6 feet tall. Roxie you are now Marie and you are from the Philippines and moved here to the US six years ago before attending this school you went to Ascend High School in Florida and you are 5.2 feet tall. Lexi you are now Angela and you were born in Mexico and moved here to the US ten years ago and went to Infinity High School in Washington and you are 5.4 feet tall. Jared you are now Mike and you were born in South Korea moved to the US eight years ago and you are 6.2 feet tall.”

“Thank you” Roxie/Marie replied. On the way out we got a packet that had our birth certificate and ids among other things we will need to get by. He found us a place we could live at. Around the same neighborhood but not too close so it did not look obvious. He also got us a job at a café that was near our apartments. He had already subscribed us to school where we had most of our classes together.

When I got to my apartment I fell asleep. I was woken up by the loud knocks on my window. I looked around and all of the sudden my room was filled with bags of clothes. I don’t remember seeing this last night.

“Angela” I heard someone scream. I started to look through the bags and found a note in one of the bags it read: ‘I figured you were going to need clothes –Ash’

I pulled out some jeans and a shirt and slipped into them. There were just the perfect size, I got some socks and slipped my brown combat boots back on.

“Angela” someone kept screaming. That was like the tenth time they kept screaming for Angela, why don’t they just give it a rest. I got the envelope that Ash gave us last night and pulled out my id. I read my new name and shoved it in my pocket. I was about to go to the kitchen when I realized I was Angela. Someone was screaming my name. I went to the window and opened the curtain; outside stood an Asian guy. I closed the curtain and went outside.

“Can I help you?” I wondered

“Really Angela you forgot” the Asian guy asked. How did he know my name and I did not know him?

“It’s me Mike” he told me staring at an old lady that was walking her dog.

“Oh Mike” I remembered now. It was Jared how in the world did I forget that, it was only like 8 hours ago we changed how we looked.
