Chapter 39

She walked up and around small hills of rocks. So far she had not seen one sight of life. Everything in this realm was rock and lava. Closely behind her the hound followed occasionally running up ahead and returning.

"Jared" she yelled but there was no reply. The hound sniffed the air and something caught his attention he growled at something behind her. She turned to see Jared standing with a sword on his hand. He cautionary walked up to her. Once he was between the hound and Lexi he pushed her back landing on the cold rocky floor.

"Stay back" he told her approaching the hound. The hound growled and bared its long sharp teeth at him, its black fur stood from crest to tail. Lexi jumped up and stood in front of Jared.

"Get out of the way" he ordered

"No" she refused

"Lexi" he warned

"If I move you are going to kill him and he is mine" Lexi told him

"He is not yours he is a demon and should be killed" Jared informed her

"He is mine and you are not going to kill him" Lexi hugged the hound

"He is a hellhound and he is a red" Jared told her

"He is mine" Lexi made it cleared

"Fine then" Jared put his sword away

"Thank you" Lexi stood up

"We should get going if you don't want to spent the night out here in the cold rocky surface" Jared started to head toward the mountains up ahead. They walked in silence Jared leading the way and Lexi following behind playing with the hellhound.

"What should I name him?" She asked Jared

"How about we leave him here" Jared suggested

"How about no" she refused

"Then don't ask me" he speed up

"How about fluffy" she suggested

"How about Duirel?" he asked

"That is nice but what does it mean?" she liked it

"Hellhound in Dutch" he told her

"Oh wow you really are creative" she teased

"I try" he throw a rock but Duirel refused to go fetch it

"I don't think he likes you" she pointed out

"He better if he's coming with" he petted Duirel's head. Duirel only growled and went to stand behind Lexi.
