Chapter 41

"Come with me" the man started to walk away then turned and said "the hellhound stays out here"

"You are funny, why don't you stay out here with these people that look like they would pounce on him when I turn my back" Lexi refused

"Lexi juts leave him out here" Jared told her

"but-" she did not want to leave him

"I promised nothing will happen to him and he will be out here when we come back out" the man told them.

"Fine" Lexi agreed and began following him down a narrow street and up a wider street. They stood in front of what seemed a castle. The man knocked twice and waited. A guard stepped out and closed the door behind him; this guard was bigger than the one that led them here. They whispered back and forth then the bigger guard stepped aside and let them in

They went up narrow stairs until they reached a big empty room aside from a throne on the opposite side.

"Wait here the Queen will be here shortly" the man instructed them and left

"It's hot" Jared told her

"I know" Lexi fanned her face with her hands

"Why aren't you sweating?" Jared wondered

"Cause its nasty" she replied

"But everyone sweats" he pointed out

"Not me, I have never sweated in my life" Lexi said proudly

"You a strange girl" he told her. The Queen walked in before she could say anything back

"What is your business here?" the Queen asked as soon as she sat on her throne

"We seek refugee" Jared told her

"From?" the Queen wondered

"A man who is trying to kill Lexi here" he pointed toward me

"Why would he want to kill you?" she continued he questioner

"She is the last Guardian" Jared informed her

"We don't get involved in watcher business no matter what" the Queen informed them

"I know, it will only be a night or two" Jared told her

"One night tomorrow by midday I want you gone" she told them and left the room

"Come with me" the guard that had brought them here stood by stairs where we came in from. They followed him down the stairs and down a narrow corridor into a small room

"There is clothes in the bed if you want to change I recommend you do change or you will die" the man told them

"Thank you" Jared told him

"Dinner is in 2 hours just down this corridor" the man told them and left

"I get top bed" Lexi shouted once she saw the bunk bed.

"Fine" Jared agreed and went to get his clothes

"What are you doing?" Lexi asked as Jared started to pull off his shirt

"I'm changing" he replied

"No I'm changing first go wait outside" she ordered

"But it's hot" he complained

"Then hurry so I can change faster" she replied

"I promise I won't look if you don't look" he proposed

"Fine but if I even think you are looking I'm going to slap you" she told him. She took off her shoes and jeans and slipped into the small short shorts. She took the top and held it in front of her. After looking at it for some time she figured where the head went. She took off her shirt and her brassiere and slipped into the top. She stared at the strips hanging from both the top and the shorts to find where they went but had no luck.
