“Jared when was the last time your parents came?” Roxie asked Jared
“I don’t remember” Jared said, “how about yours?”
“Like three months ago, they’re coming back in two days” Noah replied
“Lexi, how is your dad I haven’t seen him in a really long time” Jared asked Lexi, “I remember he was like a second father for me we used to train together every time he came”
“I don’t know” Lexi responded
“Did he go on an assignment?” Noah asked curiously
“How long do assignments usually last?” Lexi asked
“The most, five months” Roxie answered
“Then I don’t know” Lexi answered somber
“Why don’t you know he is your father” Jared wondered
“Cause he left when I was 12 years old” Lexi replied
“Oh sorry I didn’t mean it that way” Jared replied feeling guilty for asking on the first place
“I’m not going to be like everyone who always say it’s okay cause it’s not, but I learned to cope” Lexi said sadly. Jared got up from the chair he had previously been sitting at and went to the bed where Lexi was sitting at to give her a big bear hug.
“I don’t know if you’re that kind of girl who doesn’t like to be hugged but, I just want you to know that I’m here for you and I will never leave you” Jared said still hugging her
“Our parents are your parents too and so are Jared’s, we are now like a huge weird family” Noah told her
“This is the best day of my life I just went from having one mom and one brother to having seven parents, two brothers, and one sister” Lexi said smiling to show a little gratitude
“Actually it’s more like five parents, Noah and I are siblings even though we hardly look alike and we hardly tell people” Roxie explained
“Still that is four more than I had” Lexi told Roxie, and then added, “Jared I wouldn’t mind if you let go of me now”
“No, like I told you before I’m never leaving you” Jared said holding on tighter to her
“How about at night?” Lexi wondered
“I’m going to sleep on that chair but I’m never leaving you” Jared explained
“How about when I have to use the pee pee room, and how about when I have to take a shower, and when you go see your girlfriend?” Lexi continued to wonder
“I’ll wait for you outside when you are in the restroom, and I’ll figure out the rest later” Jared explained again
“I have a feeling you are over doing it” Noah cut in
“I’m only being precautious” Jared said
“Of what?” Roxie asked this time
“I don’t want her to feel sad or lonely ever again” Jared explained himself
“It’s pretty late I’ll see you tomorrow” Roxie announced, then added, “Noah you coming or staying?”
“Goodnight, if he bugs you tell me” Noah said hugging her goodnight.
“Goodnight Jared” Lexi told him
“Night Lexi” Jared told her still hugging her
“I’m going to go lay down” Lexi explained herself
