24 | Christmas Morning

Mia De Martel

It was Christmas morning and the twins were jumping up and down on my bed. Clearly excited.

"Come on! We want to open some gifts!" the twins exclaimed as they dragged me out of my bed.

I wish I slept early last night. I had to stay up reading my grandfather's old journal. It was his first journal and Uncle Gabe said there's still two more. Hopefully, it has something about the spell he did on my grandmother. It's kinda odd. Reading about the life of the grandfather I never knew. I still need to find the other two journals. Hopefully it's still inside the manor.

I waited for my cousins to start opening their gifts before I could open mine. I got a dress from Marlene, books from Remus and Lily, candies from Sirius and Peter. I opened the letter from the marauders.

Mia,

Happy Christmas! We hope you can come here for New Year. Read this first before you open my gift for you. I bought it because it reminded me of you.

From your most handsome friend,

James Fleamont Potter

P. S. It's charmed, love.

I rolled my eyes before opening the box. It was a glass lamp. There was what looks like a starry night inside. It was bright. They stars were shining bright.

"That's so beautiful, Mia. Who's it from?" Geneve asked.

"James." I said.

I carefully placed the lamp back into the box before opening Regulus' gift. It was a black jumper and a black shirt. It smelled like expensive cologne and peppermint.

I chuckled we talked about this a while back when we were patrolling. We agreed to give each other two pieces of clothing that smelt like us.  That's what I gave him this Christmas. I gave him two jumpers that smelt like me.

I never thought that he would even remember it.

Meanwhile at the Potter Manor, Euphemia Potter was taking photographs of Sirius and James as they opened their gifts whilst Fleamont wrapped his arms around his wife's waist.

James reluctantly opened the gift that Mia had given her. A new pair of quidditch gloves with his initials below a stag, charmed to move.

"Is that what Mia gave you, Prongs?" Sirius asked and James nodded.

"It's beautiful, isn't?" James asked.

Sirius nodded. "It is. She gave me one a scarf. With snuffles embroidered on the bottom." he said, frowning.

James burst into laughter. "Nice scarf, Snuffles."

"Shove off, Prongs."
