46 | De Martel Manor
It was now two weeks away from September 1st and Haven had to go home to her family which Sirius wasn't so happy about but nonetheless, he let her go. To Sirius' surprise, he noticed that his best friends Mia and James were closer than usual.
"Monty, is it just me or Amy and James are always together?" Sirius asked.
Fleamont chuckled. "Of course they are, Sirius. You've been with Haven for almost the entire summer. Surely you can't expect them not to be in each other's company while you two were snogging." Monty said causing the black hair boy to grin.
"Sorry about that." Sirius said, chuckling.
"Word of advice, don't snog in the kitchen."
Mia was inside her room, sending a letter to her boyfriend. They used to send letters everyday then it turned into every other day till it turned to sending letters every week since Regulus doesn't reply that much.
James glanced over Mia's shoulder. "Dear Regulus, I miss you." James mocked, stifling a laugh.
Mia shoved his face away. "Stop being an arse, James."
"Stop sending him letters, Mia. You know he won't respond." James said, laying on top of her bed.
Mia shook her head before giving the letter to her owl, letting it fly to Regulus' house.
"James, you can apparate now, right?" Mia asked.
"Yeah, why?" James asked.
"I was wondering if you could come with me, to my house. I need to pick something up. I was supposed to do it wity my brothers but both of them are.... preoccupied."
Grayson was already starting his auror training, Damon was spending his entire summer with Lily and her family. Mia didn't want to disturb them.
"Sure. When?" James asked, raising from the bed.
"Can we do it tomorrow?" Mia asked. "I need everything before school starts again."
"Do you know what class you're picking for your NEWT class?" James asked. "Since you pretty much got O in all of them except for Astronomy."
"Everything except for Astronomy, Divination, Care of the Magical Creatures." Mia answered, full of confidence.
His eyes widen. "10 subjects? You're taking 10 bloody subjects?" James exclaimed.
"I love a good challenge, James. You should know that about know."
Mia and James left early in the morning before anyone else was awake. They apparated into the De Martel Manor. It was empty, the house elves were now free because of Grayson. They agreed to not to sell the manor because of sentimental value.
"So, what are we getting?" James asked.
"Something from my room and something from dad's study." she answered.
As they entered Mia's room a chill went down her spine, making her shiver. Mia shrugged the feeling off. Mia grabbed a couple of her clothes, putting it inside a bag. James carried it for her, while the walk inside the study.
Adam De Martel's office was ransacked. Tables were flipped, sofas were ripped, broken glasses on the floor, and the family painting was burned.
Mia took a deep breath, trying not to imagine the scene that occurred in that room. James squeezed her hand. They stood ar the entrance for minutes before she spoke.
"I'm sorry." Mia said.
"It's fine. Take your time, Mia." James said, lowly.
She smiled a little. "Can you wait downstairs? I need a little time."
James nodded.
Mia slipped away from his fingers, letting the boy go downstairs. She opened the drawers of his desks. She was searching for her grandfather's second and third journals. Unfortunately, it wasn't in Adam's office. She checked everywhere, every hiding spot she could even think of but there was still no journal, at least not her grandfather's journal but her father's journal.
Mia went downstairs, oblivious to James who was hiding her baby picture inside his pocket. He jumped when he heard the floorboard creaked.
"Merlin's beard, Amelia! You scared me!" James exclaimed.
Mia playfully rolled her eyes. "Come on. I got everything I needed."
"Are you alright?" James asked as soon as they arrived the Potter Manor.
"Better. Thank you, James. I couldn't done it without you."
"Anytime, love."
