96 | You Have To Let Go

She tried to revived him. She tried to revive the dead body of Damon. She cannot accept that he was dead. The brother she love with her heart.... loved.

"Mia, there's nothing you can do." James said, softly, trying to pull her away from the dead body.

"Don't you touch me!" Mia hissed. "He'll live! I know he will! Stop trying to stop me!" Mia started to do chest compressions to try to make the heart beating.

James cast a patronus charm and sent it to Gabriel, Grayson, and their friends.

"Mia's here and she needs help. He's gone." James said at the patronus, letting the stag run away from him.

Within moments, Gabriel and Grayson appeared. The saw the brunette on top of the lifeless body. Grayson broke down in front of the body, tears in his eyes as he saw his own brother dead.

"Amelia, you have to let go." Gabriel placed his hand on top of her shoulder. "Damon's gone." he said, holding back his tears.

She stopped pumping the compressions and laid her head on top of his chest. "No. He can't." her voice broke. "Damon can't die. He can't. He was supposed to get married. "

"Grayson, I need you to go and get Dumbledore." Gabriel ordered. "James, get her out of here."

James nodded, scooping the girl into his arms. Mia watched her brother's body as she was carried away from him. James apparated into Sirius' and Haven's residence.

"Prongs! What's with the patronus?" Sirius quickly asked. His eyes quickly darted from James to the sobbing brunette. "What's happened?"

"Pads, can you take Mia? I need to talk to Haven for a sec." James requested, quietly. "It's something he's best friends should know."

Sirius nodded, carrying the brunette into one of the guest rooms. She gently placed her down on the bed and Sirius sat next to her.

"Do you want to talk about what happened?" Sirius asked.

"He died." she said. "he wasn't supposed to. Damon wasn't supposed to die. I couldn't understand why the deatheater killed him."

"Oh Mia. I'm so sorry."

"Your cousin killed him." Mia said, glancing at him. "He killed him for no reason." a tear rolled down her cheek. "Why would she kill him, Sirius? My brother might not be innocent but he's a great man."

He didn't say anything but pulled the girl into his embrace and let her cried on his chest. He felt bad for her. Her parents died and now, her brother died.

Mia couldn't sleep for the next two days. She couldn't eat, drink, or speak. The only time she'd ever eat, drink, or speak is when James was with her. James took care of her. Feed her, dress her, and even bathe her.

"Today is the funeral, love." James said, quietly. "Let's get you dress."

"How's Lily and the others?" Mia asked, removing her top. "Is Lily alright?"

"They're fine. You need to worry about yourself now." James said, zipping up the black dress.

"I'm fine." she muttered.

James pressed his lips on top of her head. "You aren't fine, Mia. Don't pretend you're not."

"I lost my brother." she sniffed. "My brother who always did what's best for me. I hate that he died without living his life to the fullest."

James sighed. "I know, love. I know, love. He didn't deserve this."

Mia hated funerals. She never knew the reason why everyone dead person needs a funeral. It's like celebrating their deaths. Damon and Grayson always agreed with that idea. They hated funerals.

"Mia." Grayson cooed, wrapping his sister into a hug.

"You know that Damon doesn't like funerals, right?" Mia asked once she pulled away from the hug.

"Lily and the girls planned it. Let them be. Their grieving." Grayson said.

Mia nodded. "How'd you get passed the deatheaters back at the manor?" she asked.

"When you left with Damon. They left. They didn't need us. The needed you." Grayson simply said.

Mia couldn't focus with what they were saying about her brother. She didn't like funerals so she didn't bother to understand what they were saying. The funeral was starting when Dumbledore arrived. He gave Mia a nod before sitting down next to McGonagall.

"Professor Dumbledore, can I talk to you for a moment?" Mia asked as soon as the funeral was over.

"We aren't in Hogwarts anymore, Mia. You can call me Albus." he said.

"Sir, I want in on any missions." Mia said.

"Ms. De Martel, I know you lost someon—"

"Yes, yes, I know that you know that my brother died. I can't sit around all day without doing anything, sir. I need something to do."

Dumbledore sighed. "I'll inform Moody about this. He'll put you on a mission."

"Thank you, sir."

"And Mia, I'm sorry for your lost. Your brother was a great man."

James and Mia went back home. Although this time, Mia didn't need help with anything. She did everything herself. She couldn't stay like thay forever, not when there's a war happening.

"James." Mia cooed, pressing her chest on his back, startling the boy with her actions.

"Hmmm?"

“Thank you for taking care of me, James.”
