As I wrapped my apron around me, I heard the restroom door open. Then, out came my boss Vincent."Jordan, you're late." My boss snaps. "Oh, no sorry sir. I actually got here a few minutes ago but my shift just started." I explain, faking a smile. "Just get to work." He says, aggressively sighing. I roll my eyes as he walks away, then looking at Colby who was still standing near the door. "Come here." I say, motioning for him to walk towards me.
Colby walks up to the counter and looks up at the menu. "Okay, what do you want to get?" I ask. Before Colby could respond, my boss once again interrupted.
"What do you think you're doing? That's not how we greet customers." My boss says in frustration. "But he's my friend, it's not like he would-" I start. "Friend or not. You know how to act here, you know what the rules are. Continue this behavior and you'll be fired." He orders angrily.
Colby looked shocked. I could tell he was. I couldn't loose my job, not right now. As much as I despised that man, I had to play by the rules. "Now, start over." Vincent demands. I sighed in frustration, and started over again.
"Goodmorning sir, what can I do for you today?" I ask Colby in annoyance. My boss scoffs, and stomps away into his small office. I sigh in relief as he leaves, Colby still wide eyed at my bosses behavior.
"Well when you said he was an ass I didn't think he was that bad." Colby whispers. "That's not even the half of it." I complain. "I'm sorry you have to deal with that." Colby says. "It's fine." I sigh. "But anyway, what do you want?" I ask, trying to keep calm.
"What do you recommend?" Colby asks. "Well that depends. Drink or food?" I ask. Colby thinks for a minute, until he figures out his answer. "Food." He says. "Well I really like the chocolate croissant, and the glazed donuts we have here. I know, it's boring and plain but pretty good." I suggest. "Well let me get those both." Colby says happily. I smile, and punch in his order. "You want a drink? I know you've never had a drink from here before." I ask.
"You'd have to suggest something, because I have no idea what to get." He chuckles. "Well that also depends. We have a lot of different kinds of drinks. There's regular hot coffees, hot teas, hot drinks, frappuccinos, cold coffees, cold drinks, and iced teas." I list. "What frappuccinos do you have? Those sound interesting." Colby asks.
"Well, my personal favorites are the toasted white mocha frappuccino, the peppermint white chocolate mocha frappuccino, the java chip frappuccino, and the vanilla bean creme frappuccino." I inform. "What's the creme one?" Colby asks, setting his arms down on the counter. "It's basically a frappuccino just without coffee." I say. "You know what, let me get that vanilla creme bean thing." Colby says. "Okay." I laugh.
"That's it?" I ask. "Yeah, probably." Colby says. "Okay... that's 37.54." I inform. "Really? Damn this place is expensive." Colby laughs. "I know, that's the only good thing for me." I say. Colby opens his wallet, and hands me the money. And, instead of what he needed, he gave me $60. "Keep the rest, that's your tip." Colby smiles.
"I would say you don't have to, but I'm going to not ruin it, by not saying that." I say, Colby giggling.
"Okay, people are starting to come in now, or else I would keep talking to you. When you hear your name that means your food is ready." I inform. Colby nods, and walks over to a nearby chair, sitting down.
Colby POV:
Jordan had just taken my order, and I was sitting in a chair watching as she greeted other people. Her boss really was an asshole. I mean I knew she told me about him being mean and all, but I didn't think it was this bad.
As I watched Jordan take other people's orders, I noticed that she was extremely unhappy with what she was doing. She was nice to the customers, but I could tell she wasn't actually enjoying herself. It seemed that only when she was with me, and everyone back at the house she was happy. I really felt bad, and I wanted so much to help her with her dream career. But, I couldn't do much now unfortunately.
I waited for about 5 minutes, until I heard my name being called. I looked over to find Jordan at a different counter with all my food. I quickly ran over and grabbed my food and drink. "Thank you again for everything." Jordan says with a smile. "Yeah, of course." I say happily. "I gotta get back to work, but I'll see you later?" She questions. "Yeah, definitely. What time do you get off again?" I ask. "5:00." She tells me. "Okay, well I guess I'll see you at 5:00?" I question. "Yep, see you then." Jordan says with a smile. I grabbed all of my stuff, and walked out.
As I hopped in my car, I got a sudden message from Jordan. I put my stuff down, buckled myself in and looked at the message.
'I'm not supposed to be on my phone right now, but I'm hiding in the bathroom. Thought I'd give you a song to listen to on the way home. By the way, tell me what you think of the drink and all! See you at 5:00💃'
I read. The dancing emoji was so out of context, but it was funny. I clicked on the link she sent me, and began to play the song as I drove home.
We're both throwing smoke into the night
It's raining, I suppose you need a ride
She said I've got nothing to do and neither do you
There's a place down the road where we can waste the whole afternoon
I overheard she was 19
She's got a fake ID and a nose ring
Those kind of girls tend to know things better than I do
And I'm dying to figure out what she's hiding
She's just playing it cool but she's lying, better than I doFeels like a night to carry a tune
I've been carrying yours since you've wrecked my room
And I've got nothing to do and neither do you
So let's chase after love and waste away the whole afternoonI overheard that she was 19 with a fake ID and a nose ring
Those kind of girls tend to know things better than I do
And I'm dying to figure out what she's hiding
She's playing it cool but she's lying, better than I do
A/N:
Y'all know the drill, song from today! 😌
