The movie only had about 25 to 30 minutes left, and I was starting to get kind of tired. My best option was to just finish with the movie, maybe hang out for a while longer and then head back home. I was actually having a lot of fun, and I didn't want to leave. But, I didn't really have much of a choice.Katrina and Sam ended up going to bed early, which left only me, Colby and Jake in the room. The rest of the movie we didn't even watch, we just talked about anything and we let it play. And at some point we ended up playing many rounds of rock paper scissors.
"Rock, paper, scissors, shoot." The three of us chant. I held out a flat hand, while both boys held out their fists. "Haha! Paper covers rock." I say, covering the two loser's hands. "You suck." Colby says to me in a low tone. "I know." I say with a smile.
The three of us laugh for a few, until I tell them it's time I leave.
"Well, I've had a lot of fun here today, but it's dark, it's getting late, I have work tomorrow, so I should probably get heading home." I say, standing up. "Yeah, you're probably right." Colby agrees. "Well it's been really nice meeting you." Jake says with a smile. He stands up and hugs me lightly, me returning the favor.
"It's been nice meeting you too." I say with a smile. "Want me to walk out with you?" Colby asks. "Sure." I say happily. He stands up, and begins walking to the front door with me. I grab my keys off of the wall where Colby had let me leave them, while he opens the door up for me. "Bye Jake!" I call, before walking outside. "Bye!" Jake calls back.
"Alright, well it definitely has been a hell of a day here." I say to Colby, chuckling happily. "Yeah, that's for sure." Colby adds. "Well, thank you so much for letting me stay and hang out, I've had a lot of fun." I say happily. "Yeah, of course. Anytime." Colby says, adding with a slight tone of enthusiasm. Colby leans in and stretches his arms out, as I do the same. We wrap our arms around eachother, and pull away, still smiling.
"I'll see you again soon?" Colby questions in hope. "Definitely." I smile. As Colby starts to walk back into the house, I call out "By the way, I would recommend not carrying your wallet in your pocket at the beach." Colby rolls his eyes with a delightful smile leading after. "Goodnight Jordan." Colby laughs. "Goodnight." I giggle, hoping into my car.
I watched as Colby walked inside, and shut the door as he disappears into the large home. A smile snuck across my face as I replayed my day at the house. "Best day I've had since I moved here." I say to myself, widening my smile more.
I buckled in my seatbelt, and just as I was about to start the car, I remembered I needed a code to open the gate, so I could leave. I hadn't remembered what it was, I just knew that it had an 8 in it.
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, and went to text Colby to ask for the code.
'Hey, it's Jordan. So I was about to leave and I may have forgotten the gate code. Could you tell me what it is please?'
I send. I waited for about 5 minutes, scrolling on Instagram while waiting for a response. Finally, I get a text back from him.
'Yeah, no problem. It's 6328. Have a safe drive home :)'
He replies. "Right!" I retain. "I knew it had an eight in it." I say.
'Right! Okay, thank you. I knew it had an 8 in it I just couldn't remember the numbers. And Thank you, I will.'
I text back. I looked at the code once more, and repeated the numbers in my head. I started the car up, and began to slowly drive to the gate.
