Happy New Year everyone!! Yay for 2021! This chapter's the beginning of the plot development, so have fun!

Your POV

How very odd. I sat upright in my bed, having woken only three hours after falling asleep. But that wasn't the odd part.

I looked down at my hands, which were shaking intensely. I took a few deep breaths. It was just a vivid dream, obviously. Nothing to get so worked up about.

But it was so odd.

In the dream, I couldn't have been older than three, and my parents were taking me out for a day trip. To some rocky beach, I think. We flew out on our carpet, and then everything went blank. Pitch dark. As if my brain couldn't come up with the rest of it, or - what my gut was telling me - my brain couldn't remember the rest of it.

I slowly got out of bed, not being about to sit any longer. I headed into the bathroom, and stared at my reflection, confused. Why am I so bothered by this? I have dreams all the time.

I looked into my eyes. They were normal, no purple flashes or any reason to believe something was wrong. Just go back to sleep, you have school tomorrow.

I dragged myself back to my bed and forced my eyes shut. Fall asleep! My mind was all over the place, and the last thing I could imagine doing was falling asleep.

I ended up closing my eyes until morning, not for sleeping, but for attempting to reconjure up the odd dream and see what happens next.

Uma got out of bed shortly after me, and once we were both in our outfits - with the Monday morning Auradon Prep blazer on top - we decided to walk over to the boys' dorms.

Johnny was out earlier than Harry - who almost got us late.

"Morning girls!" Johnny was perky, just as he was every Monday. He began to list off things we had due for today, tests we had, and plans for after school. He always knows how to make the busiest - and most boring, routinely - days appear exciting.

Harry stumbled out of his room, barely having combed his hair, appearing quite tired.

"Mate, you look terrible - did you sleep at all last night? You don't have a girl in there, do you?" Johnny teased.

"God no!" He pushed his hair out of his face. "I did sleep, I think. Yesterday just got late, that's all."

"Well, your hair's a mess Harry," I began. "Let me help you. Guys, we'll catch up, you can head to Latin."

I followed him into his room. I need to see if he had that dream too. I stopped my thought. Crazy, of course he didn't - stop thinking something's going on when it isn't.

As I was attempting to fix the disaster that his hair was today, I decided to ask him about it anyway, before telling him my experience.

"Harry, why couldn't you sleep last night?"

"I... honestly have no idea. In the night, I thought I knew why, but I seemed to have forgotten." He looked in the mirror. "Um, (y/n), I don't think you're helping. I'll take that." He laughed as I gave up and passed him back the comb.

It didn't seem right to mention it unless it happened again. What would I say? I had a dream where I was three? It's not exceptional in any manner.

"So it wasn't a dream, was it?"

"I don't know. I don't exactly think so - I think... the air just felt odd to me."

"Odd?"

"Well, there's no other word I could use to describe it. Just... odd." He continued fixing his hair, making better progress than me.
