Predetermined Plans

Almost forgot I had to post a part today - everything's been so busy with the end of the school year!

Your POV

"Oh! Johnny's back you guys." I turned to Maya in surprise. "And he looks like Harry." I laughed. He was dressed entirely in one of Harry's outfits, pirate coat, hat, sword - everything.

"So that's how he left. I told you guys not to worry - Johnny always covers his bases." Kai's mood was greatly improved now that breakfast was secured.

"Hope you don't mind I borrowed some of your stuff Harry - don't worry, I left the hook untouched." Johnny addressed Harry as we sat down with the food.

"Nah, I don't mind at all, mate." Harry took a bite. "Now why'd you sneak out in the first place?"

"I wanted to surprise Uma with her favourite breakfast - she's sort of been ghosting her mom, so I know she'd be missing it."

"Aw, that is so sweet Johnny!" Maya effused. "I've been missing Motunui's island food like crazy, I can't wait until Kai and I go back for a visit next week!"

"Right, I forgot that was next weekend - has it been a month since you got here?"

"Just about." Kai nodded.

"Wow, it doesn't feel like it." I gaped.

"Hey, we were actually thinking of doing something next Friday, just before they sail out." Uma brought up.

"Oh, yeah, we totally forgot to let them know about that!" Maya put her hand to her head. "I can't believe we forgot!"

It seemed like Uma, Kai, and Maya had decided on something when the rest of us weren't around.

"Well, go on." Harry laughed.

"So, Kai and I were researching the best routes to get from Auradon to Motunui, especially considering the weather is getting harsher. And it turns out, our best bet is to leave at midday, from one of the beaches along the coast." Maya started.

"We thought we'd go out there in the morning, have lunch, and then say goodbye to them when it's time for them to leave. We could go with all six of us, I'm expecting mother to be better by then - and frankly, I can't put up with all this dodging for much longer." Uma grinned at Johnny. "It's about time we both grew spines."

Johnny laughed and ruffled Uma's braids. "So where's the destination?"

"Don't get upset Harry, but it's Hook's Bay." Uma glanced over at us. It's never-ending, isn't it?

I nervously stifled a laugh. "Heh, Hook's Bay? Aren't the waters there super harsh nowadays?"

"Usually, but in this season it's the easiest route - any of the other coasts will overcomplicate the journey." Kai - who knew everything about this sort of thing - informed me.

"I mean-" Harry began, but I cut him off.

"It's really not a beach guys, I'm worried it'll be a lousy, chilly day where we can't do much."

"It's also super isolated, and no one goes there - it's perfect for the six of us to hang out. Lousy, chilly day or not." Uma retorted.

I noticed all our friends impatiently looking at us, expectantly.

I sighed. "Oh fine, we'll go ahead with the plan. A fun day out... at Hook's Bay." Harry shrugged in reluctant agreement as I continued. "Just don't blame me--"

"Ooh, I can't wait!" Maya exclaimed.

"This'll be super exciting, trust us," Uma reassured us.

I spoke so that only Harry could hear me, the others were too consumed in their joy to pay attention. "Excitement, that's totally what I'm feeling," I said disheartened.

"Let's put up with it for now, for all we know it'll rain that day - or better yet, snow in." He added, also only to me, hopefully. He put his arm around me.

"So, are we doing anything today?" I raised my voice and addressed everyone.

"Johnny and I were just going to stay in," Uma announced.

Maya looked at Kai. "Well, Kai and I also sort of made plans."

"Oh, in that case, I think Harry and I'll go out for a while today - everyone else is busy anyway."

"Not an issue with us, just don't forget you have fencing tonight, Harry!" Johnny was great at keeping a tab on everyone's commitments.

We were already dressed, so after breakfast we headed out when Kai and Maya left, giving Johnny and Uma the room.

"So, where are we going, princess?" Harry had high hopes for today.

"Er, don't get too excited - I thought that if anything would make us feel better, it might be some clarification on the whole "Isle" situation."

"How would we get that?"

"This might be a long shot, but I thought we could pay a visit to that person who always seems to be a step ahead - has always seemed to just know things..."

"You're taking me on a trip to the mental asylum?"

"They prefer "Reformatory Center", but yeah." We boarded the Carpet and took off from the front of the school.

"Forget about my disappointment, will you be okay?"

"Well, I need to face him sooner or later - I still get nightmares about him. His toothy smile..." A chill took over me. "If I see him in real life once again, I'll realize he's not someone to be so scared of. Plus, he'll be all chained up. Probably."

"And we'll march in, just asking him about "that" day - you realize that creates so many issues if he just doesn't know anything like everyone else, right?" He skeptically glanced at me.

"First of all, we can't meet him together - there's a rule against that, and I know that would close him up instantly. One at a time, you can go in first to get the vibe, see how much he'll let on - being super smart not to directly ask him about anything - and then I can see him. It'll be super quick, and we can still do something fun after!"

"Alright, it seems like you've thought this through." He eyed me suspiciously. "I hope you weren't planning on doing this alone before I got clued in.."

"Whaat? How could I deprive you of the pleasure, Harry?"

He shook his head. "It's a good thing I'm coming - imagine if he went psycho on you?"

"I doubt there's much you could do if he did - by the time you run in I would already be..." I comically slashed at my throat.

"Not funny." He sighed. "But, I think it does prove that you need this visit. You need to get over the fear that Coy is out to kill you! He's just another Isle kid who was motivated by the wrong things - I don't think he ever had anything against you specifically."

"Yeah, you're right. But that logic doesn't stop me from seeing him every time I'm in the dark, or alone. He's a manifestation of my fears all coming together in a pale-white, heartless figure." I stopped myself from getting too engrossed in the thought. "I can't wait to see him today and realize he's none of those things!"

"A bit too optimistic, I would say, but I'm liking the attitude." Harry teased.

It didn't take long to reach the centre, which was weirdly bustling with energy for a Saturday morning.

As we entered, I did a double-take when I noticed who was just leaving with a bouquet of flowers.

Who could that be...?
