"Seriously? Why?" I took off my coat and sat next to Kai, who was looking at something on his laptop screen.

"Apparently it's been a bit of a struggle for some of the VKs, especially younger students, to adjust to Auradon Prep - they want to focus all their efforts for a week on helping those kids. That, and apparently some routine maintenance that would be better off done before winter hits." Kai summarized the school newspaper page.

"That's a bit odd, isn't it?" Harry looked at me, suspicious.

"Yeah, like those two things aren't really related - why give us the week off for something that could be done over weekends or after school?"

"Does it matter? We get a break for a week!" Uma cheered. It's so random though... it's not like I didn't need it - I really could use a breather - but it's so unlike Fairy Godmother to let us off from learning time. She's so strict about such stuff.

"We're pushing up the trip to Motunui so we can visit for a bit longer - Kai and I want to leave Wednesday instead."

"Not a problem for me." I shrugged. "I suppose the Hook's Bay plan is also pushed up then?"

Harry gave me a look. Oops - I shouldn't have brought it up on second thought. They might have forgotten about it.

I looked back apologetically as Maya affirmed it. "Yes, Wednesday morning we're heading out there - all together."

"And until then..?" I questioned. "What do we do in this break?"

"Most students are going back to visit their families so that if it snows in during Winter Break, there won't be as much pressure to go. Others are booking hotel rooms in the Summerlands, or just staying in." Johnny let me know.

"What are you guys doing?" Harry asked our friends, but I could guess what they would say. Since we're meeting up Wednesday, they'd suggest we spend the time in our pairs just like today - because how often do we get these chances once school's on again?

"Uma and I want to stay at Auradon Prep." By ourselves, is what he means - but Johnny would never be so forward as to say it out loud. "She doesn't want to meet Ursula, and, well I don't have a family waiting on me!" He laughed. I wonder if Ruby is going to Corona to visit - this situation is killing me. I wish I could tell him he has a family - who...

"Kai and I are looking into booking a hotel room - it would be nice to get to see other parts of Auradon." Probably by themselves as well.

This could actually be good, (y/n) - you could make it up to Harry for ruining today!

"Maybe you and Harry should do the same!" Maya suggested. "Be quick though, the Summerlands is booking up crazy fast with all the kids looking for a place to stay."

The Summerlands was a beautiful, green, area where nearly every Auradon family has spent at least one summer living in lavish and luxury. It's a super fancy resort that all the privileged AKs run to the second they have a holiday - it's not a surprise that rooms are filling up already.

"Hm, maybe we will - have you already booked there?"

"No, they're only taking walk-in bookings now. They wouldn't book us over the phone."
