Sorry for another late post - I had a crazy midterm on Friday once again 😒
Your POV
"This trip has spoiled me, (y/n), it's going to be a challenge to convince myself I'm not actually royalty." Harry smoothly took a sip of pink-ish - who knows what's in it - drink from the food table.
"You got accustomed to it so quickly? And you like it?"
"Maybe royalty is somewhere in my blood."
"One trip to your father should reverse that notion." I laughed jokingly.
Harry groaned as he set his cup down. "Couldn't we get through this without a mention of my crazy father? It's nice to pretend for once I belong somewhere like here and not to someone like ... him."
"He's really not that bad, Harry."
"He tried to kill you, princess. I think you can stop fighting for his cause."
"But that wasn't him." I smiled as I dragged Harry back to the dance floor.
"Or, it was arguably the closest thing to him you've ever seen." Harry brushed the hair clouding my face behind my ear.
"That's dark."
"It's Captain Hook - why wouldn't it be dark?"
"You know why." I subtly let on as he spun me around. "Or are you forgetting a certain eventful morning in the teacher's lounge?-"
"Of course I haven't - I couldn't if I tried."
"On that note..."
"What is it?"
I remained silent, debating whether I could say this in such a public place. You'd never know who could be watching or listening.
"(Y/N)?" Harry looked down eager for me to let it out. Well, I can't not say anything after saying something, I suppose.
"Come close." I leaned up and put my chin on the crook of his shoulder, so I could whisper in his ear.
Subtly, just as though we were dancing, I conveyed my thoughts.
"Do you think it's a good idea to ask my parents about, you know?"
"You think they know something?"
"I can't tell - if they did, they're doing a brilliant job of hiding it. But I wonder... if there's a chance, it could be useful. They don't know that we could know, so we have to take the first step, logically, right?" I paused to think about everything. "But only if you agree. I won't do it if you think it isn't a good idea."
He took a second. "I mean, Father remembers, sort of, but when he does he goes mental. So obviously parental help from my side is ruled out. But your parents are... different. They're not unstable like mine, and they do love you. I don't see how it could go south if we're careful about it. As long as no one else is around-"
"It'll be okay?"
"I think it will be - I'm on board, at least."
I sighed in relief. "That's reassuring. Not that I'm too keen on bringing up any... potentially painful memories, but this story has a happy ending, right? Well, for us. I know it sounds selfish, but my parents didn't lose something like how Johnny did, they just essentially lost time."
"And a friend." He's referring to Maria.
I pulled away so that I could make eye contact, feeling stupid for unintentionally glazing the most important loss. The loss of his mom's life. It's not that I didn't remember the case - it's all that's been on my mind when it comes to our parents' relationships. I was just hoping it wasn't on his like it was on mine.
