Okay so it was pretty hard to find a gif for this chapter, but I finally decided to use a young Baelfire from ouat for young Harry (I had seen someone else use this concept before and loved it so credit to them!) - BUT he's way too old to play Harry in this part (it'll make sense as you read) so please imagine this sort of vibe but as a 3-YEAR-OLD - thanks :)
Your POV
"W-what do you mean? Like from when we were like 3 or 4 years old?"
"Exactly - wait, why did you say that?"
"How did you know this is how Hook's Bay looked that many years ago?""Because this is what's left of it today." I pulled up an image on my phone to show Harry the desolate, depressing beach that was the Bay at present. "Harry, you weren't (y/a) in your dream, were you?"
"No, I was about 3, I think. Possibly a bit older." He confessed.
"That's how old I've been in my dreams - the ones I didn't tell you about before."
"You're kidding - there's no way--"
"Harry, what exactly happened in your dream?"
"It's all fuzzy - the images are clear, but the events... not so much. I remember being on the Jolly Roger with Father and Harriet, at least I recall only seeing them. I'm not sure if... well, it doesn't matter. We were approaching the beach, and I was standing at the bow to get a look at the shore. It was crowded with families, gathered for what I think was a picnic. Before I could make anything else out, just before we reached shore, that's when I woke up."
I took a sip of the hot chocolate slowly, trying to process what he just related to me.
"(Y/N)? What are you thinking?"
"Do you want to know what happened in my dreams?"
He nodded, urging me to go on. "It was the same - except from my point of view. Instead of the Jolly Roger, I was 3, boarding Carpet with Mom and Baba. We reached this picnic or whatever it was, and then everything goes blank as the Roger is about to dock."
"There has to be something messing with us - I don't know if it was that trip to Motunui, or if it's the Gothels trying to get revenge - but this isn't normal. These things can't happen." Harry was reasoning out loud, blabbering on about how inconceivable this is. "It can't be - it's fake obviously, we can't have a memory of something that doesn't line up with what we know. But how could we be sure?"
"I know how we can be sure."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that there's a way for us to revisit this memory, if it really is a memory. It's what I've been practicing with the spellbook for."
"Are you serious?"
"Here, have a look." I pulled out the book which I had taken care to grab before leaving the room. I opened it to the page of the memory revisitation spell and watched as his eyes quickly scanned the information.
"This seems dangerous - you've been trying this alone?"
"Well, it says that it's simpler when you go back to recent memories, so I started small and worked my way up. The first time I used it was that day back in Fortuna, and I was able to use this to go back to the beginning of our conversation."
"I can't believe you didn't tell me about this earlier."
"But you understand, don't you? Would you have even considered the veracity of my dreams without experiencing one yourself? You know why I would have been hesitant to convey something of such importance to you, especially when these imply something..."
