Hello!

So, I posted an announcement on my message board yesterday as a joke. It's about how I want the new dark side to be the dragon witch. But after talking to some people more in depth afterwards, I actually decided I'd like to share my actual theories on who the seventh side is.

I've been immersed in this series for so long hahaha I feel like this theory has been in the works forever. But anyway I think the discussion is interesting, so I'd like to give my two cents (or maybe more cents) on this and I'd like to hear your guesses as well! Let's just have some fun with this and laugh at how much I've overthought this whole thing haha. Here's what I wrote in a google doc last night:

Okay okay okay I know that this isn't like a story or what I normally post. However I would like to immortalize my theories on the seventh side (and I think perhaps the eighth, but we'll get to that).

If you are not really a fan of trying to guess what happens in a show and would rather just experience it, I think that's awesome. More power to you. But this probably isn't the post for you, ahaha. I'll see you in the next story! (Hopefully :p)

Now. Let's get into my breakdown of my seventh side theory.

So, firstly I'm going to talk about the colour/crayon theory. I think we've all agreed that the seventh side will be orange because it completes the rainbow. Roman is red, Janus is yellow, Remus is green, Patton is blue, Logan is indigo, and Virgil is purple. So the seventh side naturally should be orange. This ended up being partially confirmed by an easter egg in SvS Redux where the orange side said "hello" in a videogame sequence.

So, why should we talk about this when it's confirmed? Because it will give us a hint as to who the orange side will be, and what they represent. Because the colours are less of a rainbow, and should be thought more of as a colour wheel.

If you look at a colour wheel and zero in on any one colour, there will be two colours to its adjacent (one on either side) and one directly across the circle. The colour that is opposite is referred to as the complementary colour. This is because the hues in each pair of opposite/complementary colours are actually completely cancel each other out. If you mix the hues you should get a shade of grey (with no colour). This lines up quite well with how the light and dark sides have been paired off so far. Direct opposites, that serve to balance and effectively cancel each other out. Now obviously this isn't going to fit perfectly, because the light sides already had pre-decided colours because of their vine origins. But the colours of the dark sides are (at least I think) intentionally meant to oppose their respective light side as much as possible. Like so:

Roman (red) - Remus (green)
Patton (blue) - Janus (yellow)

Following this model, we can see that neither Logan or Virgil have an opposite yet. But based on what most colour wheels say in regards to complementary colours, this is my guess:

Logan (indigo) - The Seventh Side (orange)

This is also because of Logan's rising relevancy in the last few episodes. He has been brought up more and more and I think that it's leading up to the reveal of his complimentary side. I will come back to this because it's important later on. So keep this in mind for now.

So based on what we can see of the other pairings (I'll use Janus and Patton as examples because they've gone head to head twice, and we haven't really seen Roman and Remus much together) we can lay out a list of their opposing traits:

Patton - Janus
Is selfless - Is selfish (duh)
Assumes good intentions of others - Assumes negative intentions of others
Lies about his feelings - Doesn't lie about his feelings? (That's interesting...)
Wants Thomas to help others be happy - Wants to make Thomas happy
Prioritizes truth - Prioritizes what Thomas wants to be true
Wants answers to moral dilemmas - Accepts that there is no "right" answer in many cases
Is quite emotional - Is very reserved in regards to emotion
