Accept versus Except:
Isa ito sa mga salitang minsan ikinasesemplang natin. Karamihan sa atin nagkakamali sa paggamit ng mga salitang accept at except.
Marami akong napansin na ganito sa mga nabasa kong kwento. Mahirap lang minsan mag-comment ng correction kasi hindi naman lahat ay accepting sa constructive correction. They see it as bashing or belittling their works, so they tend to retaliate and mute the commenter, I was muted three times by three different writers, nainis siguro . Hehehe
Nakakalungkot na isipin at lunukin minsan kasi ikaw na nagbabasa ay alam mo ang tamang gamit and all you wanted to help kaya lang di tanggap ng writer.
Maganda nga yung story pero dahil sa mga misspelled words, wrong usage, grammar and displacements or not using punctuation properly, made the stories poor.
Anyway, moving on. Accept, according to the dictionary, is a verb meaning to receive while except is a preposition meaning to exclude. In tagalog, accept ay pagtanggap at ang except ay maliban o di kasali.
Ex:
We'll accept the invitation except Luna won't go.
Do you guys see the difference? Okay. So we're good here. Madali lang naman matandaan eh. Basta ako kapag nagdududa na ako kung saan sa dalawa ang dapat kong gamitin, iniisip ko na lang yung ex ko na hindi na kasali sa buhay ko, kaya ang tamang gamit ay except instead of accept. Hehehe Isinali pa talaga ang sarili.
