Want vs Won't

I had read so many stories in the past. Most of them are really good, amazing even. there are some that have a good storyline, the plot is wonderful, the twists and turns are so realistic but I cringe when I read the sentence or sentences with words that don't make sense until I closed my eyes. As I do it, then I realized, the writer is trying to use another word that sound the word typed in.

We need to be careful using certain words that sound alike but have different meanings. One best example has been published in this compilation.

Here is one for you: Want and Won't. I know. You may think that these two words may not be mistaken as the other but we are wrong. How many new writers tried to write a simple sentence in English made these mistakes? Well, quite a few, and that includes me when I was barely starting.

Looking back at it, we tend to just write it then review it once. When it sounds okay then we publish it. Unknowingly, we made a few grave mistakes on this. Try reading the chapter on Mag-edit ng Walang Habag of Chicklit Tricks and Tips.

Let's go back to our topic: Want vs Won't.

Want is something a person desires or wishes for.

Example:

I want some ice cream.

I want to fly a kite.

I want you.

Using Want is a straight shot, direct to the point of saying what a person or the character's desire and wishes.

Won't is a contraction of two words; will and not, and is used to express the future.

Example:

I won't be coming to work on Friday. (I will not be coming to work on Friday.)

She won't stay with you from now on. (She will not stay with you from now on.)

He won't be here to protect you the next this happens. (He will not be here to protect you the next time this happens.)

They won't do it. ( They will not do it.)

Using Won't is simple. If the sentence sound right using the two words will and not, then you have achieved it.
