Maya's POV

I was sat waiting for an update on Elva when my phone started to ring. Checking who it was, I could see Andy was trying to call.

"Hey Andy, all ok?" I asked

"Hi Maya, we're all good on our end, we haven't had any more calls come in. Just wanted to let you know we've had an update on the kids and their carers. Gibson phoned children's services on the way back to the station. They've temporarily relocated all the kids." She informed me.

"Did any of them say anything about the carers or Elva?"

"Yeah, you need to keep any of them away from the hospital. There's a social worker on the way. One of the kids told us they've been hurting her, they told the children's services and they're going to be investigating. But keep an eye out for any of them, they're not to be alone with her," she informed me.

"And Maya?"

"Yeah?"

"Why are you still there?"

I took a deep breath before answering her.

"I don't know," I sighed.

"Okay well give me a call if you need me."

"Will do. Thanks Herrera."

I ended the call and went back to looking at the bear in my hands. The unknown feeling I had about Elva now had an added layer. I was angry. I was angry she'd been hurt. I was angry she'd been hurt by people that were trusted to take care of her. I don't know how badly she's been hurt, my mind just goes to the worst case scenarios.

"ELVA! ELVA WHERE ARE YOU?"

I look up and see Marie storming into the ER. She's clearly found out about the social services investigation. Her face was flushed with anger.

"Hey can I help you?" I nurse asked her.

"I need to see Elva James," she demanded.

I instantly raised out the chair and headed over to them.

"I'm sorry you shouldn't be here," I told her as politely and calmly as I could muster.

"And who the hell are you to stop me!" She shouted.
She was starting to gain the attention of others in the room.

"You put out the fire. Your jobs done!" She added.

"Social services are on the way, we can get security to take you out if you refuse to leave," I informed her.

Instead of replying she pushed myself and the nurse aside and marched her way through the ER.
Trying every door until she got to Elva's, Marie was not stopping. She pushed open the door and I ran in behind her.

"Security!" I shouted.

Elva's face went white. Her hands flew to her ears and she squeezed her eyes shut. Carina was stood beside her with her stethoscope, she'd clearly just been checking Elva over. Dr Avery stood between Marie and Elva's bed blocking her from getting to her. Carina tried to ignore what was going on and get Elva to focus on her.

"Get up we're going," she screamed at the tiny girl.

"I'm sorry ma'am, she's suffered extensive smoke inhalation, she's staying here," Avery told she.

"She's fine. She's coming with me,"

Marie tried to push past Jackson, he blocked her path.

I looked over and could see Carina trying to take hold of Elva's hands but she was moving around and shaking.
