Maya POV
I was on the phone to the captain from station 23 when my office door opened, I turned to see my little girl with tears streaming down her face.
"I'll call you back Jones," I said before hanging up.
"Baby what is it?" I asked as Elva ran into my office crying.
I'd just about managed to get twenty minutes of work done while she was up in the beanery with the team.
Incident reports were piling high on my desk.
"Mommy," she cried, rushing straight over to me.
"Elva what is it?" I asked, scooping her up straight onto my hip.
She buried her head in my neck, holding onto me tightly.
"Elvie," I sighed, hearing her sob.
"Bishop I'm so sorry," Jack said, appearing in my office and holding his hands up in defence.
"What did you do?" I frowned, rubbing my hand up and down her back and walking around with her in my arms.
"I didn't realise she was with Herrera and I jumped out and scared her," he explained.
"I thought I was just getting Andy," he added.
The phone began to ring again, I cancelled the call and reminded myself to get back to whoever it was later.
My stress levels were rising.
"Gibson it's fine," I said firmly, swaying side to side with Elva in my arms.
"Bishop I'm sorry, is she alright?" He asked helplessly.
"I said it's fine," I snapped.
"I'll just leave you to it then," he said awkwardly, backing up out of my office.
He left me alone with Elva who still had her face hidden.
"Elvie it's alright," I soothed, relieved to know she wasn't hurt or anything.
"Calm down little love, Gibson was just playing around. He didn't mean it," I explained to her.
"Mommy," she cried.
"I know he scared you Elvie but you're okay," I whispered, kissing the top of her head.
My phone began to ring again and I moved to put Elva back down.
"No mommy," she whined, clinging onto me.
"Okay okay," I sighed, adjusting her on my hip slightly.
I reached for my phone and saw it was the chief calling. I reluctantly answered and lifted the phone to my ear.
"Captain Bishop speaking," I answered, walking around my office with Elva practically attached to me.
"Morning Bishop," he said seriously.
He began to reel of lots of information.
I quickly sat down at my desk, manoeuvring Elva with one arm onto my lap.
"Mommy," she cried softly, playing with the collar of my shirt.
"Shhh baby," I whispered, not wanting the chief to know I had my child with me.
"Pardon Bishop?" He asked.
"Nothing sir, just grabbing a pen," I said, jotting down the things he was telling me.
Elva was getting restless again with me not having had the time to settle her properly.
There was a soft knock at the door and Vic appeared.
