Maya POV
"Maya?" Carina asked, rolling onto her side and stoking her hand up my arm.
"Hmmm," I replied, reluctantly taking my eyes off of a sleeping Elva who lay beside me.
I had never felt more relaxed or at peace. Laying with both Carina and Elva and knowing nobody could take her way brought an overwhelming sense of comfort.
It was unfamiliar.
I wasn't used to it.
"Are you alright?" Carina asked.
"I know I should be 100% happy and I do genuinely feel like I'm on cloud nine but something feels wrong" I whispered, not wanting to wake Elva.
"You've never felt like this have you?" She said, softly twirling my hair in between her fingers.
"I feel like I'm waiting for something to go wrong," I admitted.
"I feel like I don't deserve to be this happy," I added, gently pulling the covers up a little over Elva.
She wriggled slightly, pushing herself up a little further onto my chest before settling back down.
"She still asleep?" Carina asked.
"She's out like a light," I smiled, stroking her cheek.
"Maya you know you're allowed to feel happy don't you? You're allowed to feel safe and at peace," Carina said comfortingly.
"It seems to good to be true," I sighed.
"Believe it bellina," she smiled, leaning over to kiss me.
"Are you happy?" I asked her when she pulled back.
I smiled when I saw her lips curl up into the biggest grin. She leant over me to gently rest her hand on Elva's back.
"How could I not be bella?" She smiled.
"Look at what we've got Maya, we've got a smart, funny, beautiful bambina who has nothing but love to offer the world. We've got to where we want in our careers. And we've got each other Maya. Things may not always feel like this but we can tackle anything and everything together bellina,"
"I love you," I smiled, staring in complete awe at her as the words left her lips.
"I love you Maya,"
"I do have a question," she said tentatively.
"Hmmm, go on,"
"Don't you think it's time you told your momma about Elva?"
I sighed and pushed myself up even further, careful not to wake Elva whose hand was now gripped around the top of my shirt.
It didn't look like she was waking any time soon though.
"I just told you how happy I was, let's not ruin that," I chuckled.
"Maya," she said seriously.
"I'll tell her, but I want us to enjoy some time together stress free for a while," I explained.
"Then that's what we'll do," she nodded.
"Are you going to tell your father?" I asked her, raising an eyebrow.
"I think we should tackle one parent at a time," she laughed.
"Poor Elva doesn't have a clue what she's in for," I sighed, kissing the top of her head.
"She'll be fine, she's got us. We're nowhere near as messed up as them," Carina smirked.
"Do we have everything we need for later?" I asked, checking the time on my phone.
