Maya's Next Step

Part 28

Maya POV

Carina told me all about her afternoon with Elva. I wish Elvie could understand how much Carina and I love her. She knows we care and I'm so happy she's comfortable around us but she's too young too fully know. She probably does feel a little left out from her friends by not having a "proper" mom as Lewis ever so kindly put it to her.

She was in a good mood when I got home from work though. She was excited to have helped Carina make dinner.

She was very clingy with Carina that evening too.

"Come here bubba, my turn for cuddles," I joke pouted, holding my arms out.

She giggled and climbed down from Carina's knee and came straight over to me. I snuggled her into my lap and breathed her in.

She nuzzled into my chest and got herself comfortable.

"I love you bub," I whispered to her as I tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"I love you Maya," she smiled looking up at me with her big brown eyes.

"Sleep in your bed?" She asked sweetly.

I glanced up at Carina, who pretended to pout but nodded.

I knew it was because she wanted to have sex but she could sacrifice one night. I couldn't say no to Elva l, especially after her little meltdown earlier.

"Just tonight bub," I said.

She accepted that and rested her head back down on my boobs.

"Let's get to bed," Carina said after a couple of minutes, realising Elva was falling asleep on me.

I carried her into our bedroom and settled her in the middle of our bed. Carina and I quickly stripped and got changed into our pyjamas before climbing into bed either side of Elva.

Elva rolled over to face Carina and snuggled right into her chest already pretty much asleep. I also faced Carina and lay my arm across both of them. Carina leaned over Elva to kiss me.

"Buona notti bellina," she said softly.

"Night my love," I replied.

Elva POV- the next day

All day people have been talking about a big fire in the city. We could see the smoke from the play ground.

It's all everyone was talking about, even all the teachers.

We heard one teacher tell Miss Thomas at break time that it was on the TV.

"Will Maya be there?" Everyone kept asking me.

Everyone in my class knew about Maya now, especially since she had her uniform on to drop me off.

"I don't know," I just kept replying.

I didn't want Maya to be there.

Not if it was as big as everyone was saying.

She said she'd try to pick me up from school today instead of me walking to the station with Jennie.

At lunchtime, Miss Thomas came to speak to me.

"Elva sweetie, Maya called. She can't pick you up today, she wants to you walk with Jennie," she told me.

"She at the big fire?" I asked nervously.

"No hunny, not at the minute but she said she has to stay at the station just in case," she explained.

I nodded, secretly happy she wasn't at the big fire yet.

Maya POV.

"Ok everyone listen up, there's a large structure fire across town. Currently a four alarm fire, looking like it's gonna get to five. Be ready for the call," I explained to the team.
