Part 84

Maya POV

"Alright 19 go freshen up, eat and take a minute. That was a tough call, I don't want anyone over exerting themselves," I instructed as I jumped down out the engine.

"Yes captain," came a few replies.

"Coming to the beanery?" Andy asked, stepping out of her turnouts.

"After I've called Carina. I want to check in on Elva," I said, pulling off my boots.

"Is she alright?" Andy asked, her voice full of concern.

"She had a temperature this morning so Carina stayed home from work with her," I explained.

"Oh poor mija. I hope she's alright by Saturday when she's with me," Andy said, catching me off guard.

"Why's she with you on Saturday?" I asked, confused as we hadn't planned anything.

"Oh ermm Carina asked me to babysit," she stuttered nervously.

"Why?" I frowned.

"I think she just wanted some alone time with you. She didn't really say," Andy replied quickly, unable to make eye contact.

"Right," I nodded suspiciously.

"I'm gonna go call Carina," I said, turning and leaving an unusually flustered Andy by the engine.

As I entered my office, I sat down and video called Carina. She answered almost immediately.

"Hi my love," I smiled, seeing her beautiful face appear on my phone.

"Ciao bellina," she replied quietly.

"How's our little princess?" I asked.

She flipped the camera around to show me Elva sleeping on the sofa with messy hair and Bobby in one hand dangling over the side.

"We've both had a shower and two outfit changes," she whispered.

"Oh no has she been sick?" I asked, resting my head in my hand.

"All over me," Carina nodded.

"It's a good job I'm a doctor and have seen much worse," she added.

"How's she been since?" I pouted.

"I think her temperature made her sick. She was laying on top of me and was almost asleep when it happened. I just threw us both in the shower. I've taken her temperature again and it's on the way down," she explained.

"Hopefully she'll just sleep it off now," I said.

"She's been sleeping a lot. I've actually been able to get a lot of my paper written," Carina told me.

"Silver linings," I smiled softly.

"Oh I have a question," I said, remembering my conversation with Andy.

"Si bellina?"

"Andy said you asked her to watch Elva on Saturday?" I said, raising my eyebrow.

Carina blinked.

"I thought we could have date night bella. It's been a while?," she suggested.

That was that cleared up then.

"Sounds good to me beautiful," I smiled, already excited.

"Anywhere you had in mind?" I asked.

"Why don't you leave it all to me bella," she smirked.

I felt myself blush a little, still getting butterflies in my stomach.

There was a knock on my office door.
