Maya's Next Step

Part 20

Maya pov

I woke up the next morning still naked with Carina's slender body wrapped around me.
I breathed her in and sighed contentedly.
She definitely managed to distract me last night, we entered a whole new world of our own. I'm glad Elva had appeared to sleep through the night. I picked up my phone to check the time, it was only 7am.

Carefully, I untangled myself from Carina and slipped out of bed. I pulled on my robe and went to check on Elva. I'd leave Carina to sleep for another hour or so. She's normally up at this time for work but because of the assessment, she had the day off.

On entering Elva's bedroom, I found her wide awake and sat up.

"Good morning sweetheart," I smiled, going in to sit on the end of her bed.

"Morning," she replied.

"You okay bub?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Sure? You're awake early,"

"I nervous. I couldn't sleep," she said.

"You can always come and get Carina or I if you need us in the night you know," I told her.

After saying that, I thought to myself that maybe Carina and I should start sleeping with clothes on. I knew Carina wouldn't be too thrilled with that idea though.

She smiled up at me.

"Wanna join me while I make some coffee?"

She nodded.

I hopped off her bed and held out my hand. She took it and followed me into the kitchen.

"Do you want anything Elvie?" I asked her.

She just gave me a shrug.

"'I'll get you some juice," I smiled.

While she drank her apple juice, I quickly made a pot of coffee.

With a mug in one hand, and Elva's in the other, we went into the lounge. I opened the curtains and turned the large armchair around slightly so that it was facing the window. I sat down and Elva got herself snuggled up on my lap.

The sun had almost fully risen but it was so lovely sitting in a comfortable silence while we watched the world go by below.

I continued to drink my coffee and stroke my fingers through Elva's hair with my free hand as she rested her head on my bare chest. I felt her nuzzle into me and play with the top of my robe. I smiled. She was so peaceful and definitely made me slow down. I'd normally be straight up and rushing around, grab a protein shake and be on the go. Having Elva was giving me the chance to just take my time.

I took my phone and snapped a picture, sending it to Andy with the caption "my morning vs yours"

She instantly replied with tonnes of heart emojis and telling me she missed my ass in work.

I sighed slightly at the thought of going back to work next week. There was still so much to figure out, like childcare and school.

Elva and I must've been sat there for ages because before we knew it, Carina was up and sorting breakfast. I checked the time and realised Jane would be arriving in about half an hour.

"Time to face the day Elvie, let's do this,"

Twenty five minutes later, the three of us were seated on the sofa just waiting for Jane to arrive. We were sat in silence, I don't think any of us knew what to say. My hands were clammy and Elva was fidgety and couldn't stay still. At one point, she went to grip onto her hair but Carina put a stop to that straight away and pulled her onto her knee.
