Carina POV
"Everyone, I want you to be aware of a severe weather warning we've just received for the next couple of days," Owen informed everyone.
"I want you to go ahead and cancel any outpatient and none emergency surgeries so we can make a start on creating extra beds," he added.
"When is the storm due to hit?" Maggie asked.
"In two days," he sighed. "Get to work,"
The crowd of doctors and nurses dispersed to follow Owen's orders.
"Looks like a big one," Amelia said, looking at the report on her phone.
"That will mean Maya will be on call," I sighed, already worrying about her safety.

"What are you going to do about Elva?" she asked.
"I don't know, Maya will have a plan," I replied.
"The day care will be open," she pointed out.
"Hmm true, Elva won't like staying there though. She likes hanging out with me,"
"Mer's kids and Sofia will most likely be there, she won't be on her own," Amelia said kindly.
"I'll speak to Maya," I smiled, turning to go check my schedule for the next few days.
I thought about calling Maya now to see if she'd been warned about the storm but remembered she would be busy with Elva's school visit.
Arriving home after work that night, I was exhausting. Preparing for a storm can be just as bad as working during one.
"Mama," Elva smiled as I opened the door of the apartment.
"Hello bambina," I laughed, watching her get up off the sofa to run over to me.
Her arms wrapped around my legs. I took off and hung up my jacket before bending down to her height.
"That was a nice welcome home bella," I smiled, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"You've been ages," she said.
I lifted her into my arms as I stood back up.
"Dov'è la tua mamma?" I asked her.
She lay her head down on my shoulder.
"Cucina," she replied cutely.
I smiled and kissed her head in response to her use of Italian and walked through to the kitchen to find Maya.
"Hi beautiful," she greeted when she saw me enter with Elva.
"Ciao bellina," I said happily, joining her by the stove and leaning down to kiss her.
"You're late home," she pointed out.
"That's the first thing Elva said to me," I chuckled, sitting down at the table with Elva on my lap.
