Maya POV

"Maya for god's sake get yourself home!" Andy said, no hint of sarcasm or humour in her voice.

"Five more minutes," I breathed out, lifting the weight above my head.

"Maya come on, it's Christmas Eve," she pointed out for the fifth time in the last hour.

"I'm aware Herrera," I sighed.

"So get your ass home to your baby girl," she said, her voice raising slightly.

"My baby girl is home baking cookies for Santa with her mama, she's fine," I snapped, standing up from the bench

"My baby girl is home baking cookies for Santa with her mama, she's fine," I snapped, standing up from the bench.

"Bishop come on, you know she wants to spend this time with you," Andy sighed.

"You're off shift, go watch a cheesy movie with hot chocolate and put you little girl to bed for her first real Christmas," she added.

I was about to snap another retort when I stopped myself. I forced myself to think of my daughter who had never experienced a Christmas the way it should be celebrated.

"But Winter," I sighed, the anger in my changing placed for sadness.

Andy's shoulders also dropped, the tension leaving her as well.

"Any news?" She asked.

"None, Elva's old social worker said she'd look into it but has now gone on vacation for 3 weeks over the holidays," I explained frustratedly.

"Old social worker as in Jane?" Andy frowned.

"God no," I answered quickly, shivering at he sheer mention of that woman's name.

"Her name is Michele, she took over Elva's case after Jane was suspended," I added.

"Then there's nothing you can do tonight Maya. You can't possibly find this girl tonight. What you can do, is go home and be with the little girl who's life you saved," Andy said, squeezing my shoulder lightly.

I looked down at my hands, the guilt I felt around Winter growing a little smaller.

"What're you gonna do if you do find her?" Andy asked seriously, asking me the question Carina and I had been avoiding any time Andy asked.

Currently, Andy was the only person who knew about Elva's sudden disclosure about having a sister.

I looked at her and shrugged, until we had more information, Carina and I didn't know what on earth we would do.

"Maya?" Andy said quietly, getting my attention.

"Hmmm?"

"Go home to your baba," she said softly.

I gave her a weak smile and nodded, concluding my workout.

"I'm going," I said, heading for the door.
