Maya POV
3 days later
"We need to tell her Maya," Carina said for the fifth time that morning.
Like the previous four times, I ignored her and continued folding the pile of clothes.
"Maya!" She said, grabbing hold of my arms and forcing me to stop and look at her.
"What?!" I said exasperated.
"We have to tell her," she sighed.
"I can't, I just don't know how," I breathed out.
"We'll do it together," she said, squeezing my hands.
"But not now, we promised her a day at the beach. She's hardly spoken in days and I want her to enjoy herself. Please Carina, I promise we'll tell her tonight," I pleaded with her.
"Alright bellina, tonight," she agreed.
"Now go get that swimsuit of yours and let me get Elva ready," I said, leaning up to kiss her.
"As long as you go get yours," she winked.
I rolled my eyes, finished folding the washing and headed into Elva's room.
"Elvie, why aren't you dressed yet?" I chuckled, seeing her still in her pyjamas.
She looked up at me and shrugged.
"Don't you wanna go to the beach bub?" I asked, walking over to her wardrobe.
She nodded slightly.
I was so worried about her. She's hardly said two sentences in days.
"What's your favourite thing about the beach?" I asked, trying to get her to talk to me.
I rummaged through her clothes for a suitable outfit for her.
"I don't know," she said quietly.
"Is It the sea? Building sandcastles? Ice-cream?"
"Ive not been," she whispered.
I flipped my head around to look at her.
"You've never been to the beach?" I asked clarifying.
"Never," she shrugged as though it were nothing.
I tried to hide the shock on my face, I didn't want her to feel bad about it but I couldn't believe it.
"Then your mama and I are going to make sure you have the best day," I smiled.
She weakly smiled back.
I took hold of her hands.
"Elvie look at Maya, look at mommy," I said gently.
Her big eyes met mine.
"Talk to me," I said softly.
"I'm alright mommy," she replied.
I didn't push her.
"Want me to help you get ready?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Come on then bubba," I smiled.
I helped her to get ready for the beach and quickly ran back to my room to get myself changed.
I messaged Andy and Vic to let them know what we were up to and they said they'd come down and join us.
"Carina!" I shouted through the apartment.
She popped her head around the bedroom door as I was pulling on my shorts.
