Remus rolled out of the bed. For what seems to be the third time this night. It makes sense though because tomorrow is a full moon. He's nervous, afraid even.

He spent years dealing with Lycanthropy. Some years alone, some with the Marauders, some with his parents and after officially putting a ring on Sirius' finger, Sirius.

He kissed his forehead and looked at his sleeping figure lovingly. He looked hilarious. Mouth agape, his usually kept hair now a huge fluff. Almost like a sunflower, a halo around his head.

"I'll beat your ass prongs..." Sirius muttered before turning his back on Remus.

It's a habit of his, mumbling things in his sleep. Remus once caught him reciting Queen's Radio Ga Ga like a poem. Other times, the rumblings were quite sweet. (sometimes dirty, Remus glowed red THAT night.)

The werewolf silently stepped out. Heading to the living room for some water and just laying on the mustard yellow sofa. He grabbed a book to help him settle. It was My Life in France by Julia Child.

Beautiful story really. Filled with cuisines and wonderful tales of Paris. He pictured him and Sirius redoing everything from the book. Maybe one day, they'd get to visit all the restaurants mentioned.

Then the sound of the light switch pulled Remus out of La Couronne. Que Sirius grumpily walking in the dim lit room with a fist scratching his eye.

"Mmm Remus why'd you go ?" He said in his half awake state.

"Nothing baby. Just pre werewolf jitters. You know how nervous I get."

Sirius chuckled. "That, I know well."

Instead of heading to Remus, he swiveled to the kitchen. Heating up a cup of warm milk while asking what Remus felt.

"Here drink, I read milk does a better job at making you sleepy than tea." Sirius knelt on the floor beside him.

Remus slowly sat up and grabbed the warm mug. Sirius found interest in the book Remus just set on the table. In fact, HE bought the book.

"Never knew you liked french stuff.  You didn't even touch this when I first brought it home." Sirius skimmed through it's contents.

"For starters, you were glued to the spine with that thing. Never saw you leave the house without it in arm. Crying because you accidentally dipped it in bath water- Ow!"

Sirius huffed. "That was 1 time ! C'mon move over I want to sit."

Remus scooted to the other side while Sirius clambered on, taking his previous spot. His cold toes poking Remus' side as the lanky man drank his milk. "I'll splash you with this if you don't stop."

Sirius dramatically slapped a palm on his forehead. "Oh No ! What must I do ! If only my husband was here to save me."

Remus put the cup aside quickly before diving into Sirius. His head found Sirius' neck quite easily. That left Sirius with a puff.

       "Remus ! You're crushing me !"

tsk. "Sirius stop being a drama queen, we do this all the time"

"Yeah ?! And I say that all the time. You're literally 1 head taller than me !"

         "I think that's 2 heads taller-"

         "I'm divorcing you."

That made Remus chuckle. "Really ? Cus it seems like you're hugging me too tightly for someone calling in a divorce."

Sirius rolled his eyes. "Shush now. What page were you in ?"

"What ? Why should I tell you ? You can probably recite the whole book for me-Ow!"

"I literally tapped you Remus ! And you're calling me the drama queen." Sirius chided as he reopened the novel.

Remus let himself smile. He heard the unsteady beating of Sirius' heart. His chest getting warm. Times like this, his senses are heightened. Sirius' laundry softener smelt nicer. Sweeter.

Then Sirius' started reading aloud. The french names rolling easily off his tongue. The odd R-s and U-s. He made it sound so easy, like singing. Compared to Remus' mind gurgle when he read it.

(For real tho when I first read HP, I read Hermione as Herjajdjajsk. Like, what even is that ???)

He felt like a little boy again with Sirius reading a bed time story.

"I opened the school's booklet, found the recipes from the examination — oeufs mollets with sauce béarnaise, côtelettes de veau en surprise and crème renversée au caramel — and whipped them all up in a cold, clean fury. Then I ate them."

Remus wheezed. "I love her already."

"I know right. My favourite book." Sirius' voice sounded rough with the night but it is, till this day, Remus' favourite sound.

Then Sirius continues reading but this time with fingers running through Remus' hair. That made him sigh, let-go-of-all-frustrations type of sigh.

Unknowingly, Sirius grinned. I knew it, he thought triumphantly. He'll get Remus to sleep in no time.

The werewolf felt his eyelids grow heavy. Sirius became so warm, so comforting. He felt his brain shutting off. He could even hear his cells turn the lights off saying, "That's it for today !"

Sirius was reading about something  Julia cooked but he couldn't catch the name. Even when it was beautifully read. Remus' eyes shut and his face relaxed. He's a goner.

When he noticed Remus stopped squirming, Sirius let out a breath of relief. He closed the book, landing it on the coffee table before returning his arms on Remus' back.

He strained his neck to see for himself. Indeed, Remus was asleep. With a kiss to his brown locks, Sirius stared to the ceiling.

He'd never let Remus know, that he was nervous too. After every full moon, Sirius patched him up. Every month dawns a new horror for Sirius. He hated it.

Using protective magic and expert engineering, they've designed a werewolf room down in the basement. Remus wouldn't have to run out of the house, lowering the risk of him getting exposed.

The room wasn't bad either. It got expanded with magic. It didn't look like a basement, more like a forest with ponds and running waters. Sirius would just have to kiss him good luck, lock the door from the outside and wait.

And waiting for what resurfaces after the wolf was the most terrifying part. He'd rather pet Remus' wolf form rather than wait a few hours as Remus does heaven knows what to himself.

Sirius squeezed his eyes in sadness. If he could just find a cure. If he could take Remus' place. If he could do anything to stop Lycanthropy.

The man heaved a particularly heavy sigh. Whatever happens tomorrow, happens tomorrow. He looked down at Remus' sleeping figure.

He's going to live in tonight for as long as he can.
