Remus learned from a young age that teasing and harmless pranks are... forgivable.

The kids in his neighborhood calls him Scarface and Freddie Krueger but he learns to turn a blind ear. (But later when they find their hanged laundry all cut up and their parents screaming at them, 10 year old Remus sips his tea.)

So when he enters Hogwart's and finds total peace, he's a little shocked. He wonders if everybody knew of his secret. Not a single kid looked at him strangely.

Remus got into Gryffindor and the kids on the Lion table cheered for him too. He sat next to a quiet boy who when called to the hat earlier made the whole hall quiet.

His name, Remus wrecked his brain trying to remember, was Sirius Black. The kids stared at him instead.

Subtly looking around them, Remus felt all the eyes glancing at Sirius Black. He too had a little look.

The 11 year old boy's eyes casted down to his plate. His form slouched and... sad.

Remus took this upon himself. Noone is getting the same treatment he did back in the muggle school. So he cut an  applepie slice and slid it on Sirius' plate.

The next boy was a rowdy one named James Potter, the Gryffindor table's attention was on him. They didn't catch Sirius looking up to Remus.

"Eat, you'll feel better." Remus offered.

Sirius, even though he hates it there, knows his manners. "Thank you." He said.

Since then, they sort of gravitated to each other.  Though they always made space for James and Peter, their new roommates.

James clapped Sirius on the back and gave him a crooked smile. "We'll be the coolest Gryffindor out there !"

Sirius only gave him a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. Remus whisked James away to another session of dueling.

With them sharing a room, it's hard not to notice when the howlers came. Sirius would try to hide in his corner of the room and cast a silencing spell but no spell was strong enough to repel Walburga's screams of hell.

The mean Slytherin kids weren't helping either. They called Sirius names like "Bloodtraitor" and "Mudblood." Remus doesn't understand what those meant but the way James started clenching his wand, he knew it was horrible slurs.

James' way of fixing was comforting Sirius. They became inseparable, never one without the other. James cheered him up on the darkest days.

But Remus ? his boiled too hot to give comforting words. He'd end up cursing the kids with cusswords that would make a sailor blush.

He held back and became Sirius secret keeper instead. When the nights were painful and tears became rivers, Remus was there to hold Sirius. Though the holding part was a new development in their relationship.

Sirius always denied his heart when he felt himself melting in Remus' embrace. He's totally not into boys right ?

***

One time in 6th year, the teasing became bullying and Remus had enough.

The four of them planned for a hangout on the stone walls in the courtyard, when Lucius' henchmen made it to Sirius first.

They cornered Sirius. Called him names and opened all the family gossip about the "odd one out." One even bold enough to physically go at it.

If Sirius reacted, he'd be in trouble and that'll bring more shame. What will happen to him in the summer ?
