109. Highschool Reunion

"Soo who's gonna be there ?" Remus leaned on the door frame.

"Well my old teammates would probably be there. Maybe some classmates. Mind you I forgot almost all of them." Sirius glanced from his mirror to Remus. "It's nothing to worry about."

"Look, I know how some of them treated you. We might've met in Uni but I can piece what they're like by your stories."

The boy pressed his thumbs on Sirius' shoulder blades in a soft massage. Sirius going pliant under his touch

"They can't get to me now Remus. Who knows they might change. I want to see my old teammates too."

"Alright alright.. let's go then." Remus agreed with a kiss on Sirius' crown.

Sirius gave a comforting squeeze to Remus' hand before letting go. The gym never felt so packed. Remus could see clusters of old friends forming. He recognizes some of them in Sirius' photos.

"And this is my boyfriend, Remus. Remus this is Arthur, he's a astronomer now !"

Remus' attention went to the portly red haired man. They shook hands and with a "So, I heard you have a knack for   astronomy ?" They hit it off.

Even when talking about interesting conspiracy theories with the Weasley, his eyes followed Sirius around the crowded circles. He was scared of losing him in the sea of strangers.

"Ykno, Remus I can see why Sirius likes you."

Hearing that made his ears glow red. "Ah you're too nice."

"I think you should go find your other half. I have to go find Molly too." He smiled. "The things we do for our lovers huh ?"

Remus nodded. They hugged goodbye and parted ways. His shoulders hit a few people as he flattened himself through them.

The never ending chatter tired his senses. He had to make a beeline to the drink's stand serving watermelon punch. There he met another bright haired lady.

"Remus !"

"Lily !"

Of course he knows Lily. With their boyfriends stuck to the hip, Remus ought to know his boyfriend's husband's wife.

"Hey, have you see Sirius ?"

"High school habits die hard. You'll never find Sirius in a crowd. You gotta let him find you." Lily chuckled to her drink. "Don't worry. He's probably chatting with the jocks."

They stayed near the food. Both not really the type to wander and lose themselves in bodies. "Is that.."

"Malfoy." Lily snorted. "He grew his hair out. He might as well tie it and call himself George Washington."

Malfoy was a big warning sign for Remus. Knowing what he'd done to Sirius made him wary. "Do you think I should.."

"Don't. They're adults now. Lucius might've been a big bully but trust Sirius."

Trust Sirius. Of course he trusts Sirius, it's Lucius he has to drag out and skin alive if anything happens.

That's when Remus' eyes found Sirius. His laugh, although from afar, always made him smile. It feels like a magnet, pulling him closer and closer.

When he sees Sirius laugh, it's like all good of the world is with him. Christmas, puppies, hot chocolate, warm covers, a good book, a big hug. It's like he finally let go of a breath he didn't know he was holding.

Their eyes met and Remus mouthed a "Hey."

"Hey." Sirius smiled back.

But Remus' smile soon became a glare once he noticed who is advancing. He put his drink down and walked to Sirius. "Sorry Lils, gotta go."

Lily could only watch from his spot. Shaking her head with a knowing smirk on her face. "Oh Sirius, what a boyfriend you've got."

Remus made it a few milliseconds before Malfoy came. Sirius seemed to relax with Remus behind him.

"Black."

"Malfoy."

"Potter."

The circle laughed at James' quip. Sending Lucius into a red flurry.

"Bank auditor."

"Full time artist."

"Married."

"Actually in love and not arranged."

Oof. Remus broke into a proud smile before returning to his cold look. Lucius met his eye.

"With this ?"

"Yes, with this rare specimen. Remus, Lucius."

Remus is used to being the taller person. Sadly, with Lucius, they saw eye to eye. Tension began to build. As some decided to watch 2 towering, well dressed men glare each other down.

"Nice to meet you." The blonde said through gritted teeth.

"I would say the same."

Lucius stuck his nose higher and left without another word. James was the first to chortle. "Ah that was something.  I can see him wetting his $1000 pants !"

The group continued their silly banter but Remus' eyes followed Lucius to his own group. He knows a few to be Sirius' relatives.

"Remus. Stop it."

"Hmm what ?" Remus looked down to see Sirius' puffed cheeks.

"You've had enough glaring. My friends were looking at you, shaking in their boots !"

"As they should sweetheart." He pinched his rounded cheek.

"You don't have to scare them. The others are nice people. So stop."

A kiss, Remus hummed an agreement. For now at least.
