83. How to make Remus say Yes

"No, Teddy. I'm sorry with this whole pandemic, I can't let you go to an ice rink. Let alone out of the house." Remus sighed at the little boy.

Teddy was already so excited to go. He saved up for some ice skates and made Sirius teach him last year. He's been practicing with roller blades but after the outbreak, he couldn't leave the house.

"Mmm okay papa." Teddy put his skates back in the shelves and ran back upstairs.

Sirius came in a few minutes later and patted his shoulder. "He tried with me too. I really had to think of you literally beating my ass to stop me from sneaking out with him."

"I really.. want to make him feel happy. I know online school had been stressful and he needs some fun but I can't risk it." Remus looked up at Sirius' gaze.

"How about... I magic a portion of the town's lake into an ice rink for 1 night and we can skate to our hearts' content ?" Sirius whispered temptingly.

With 1 face from Remus, Sirius had his hands up in defeat. The man nodded with a string of Ok-s as he sauntered away. "I'm going to cheer Teddy up."

"Papa won't agree to that !" Teddy pouted. The 2 sat cross legged in his dimmed room.

"Shh we have to keep this a secret okay ? I'll do the magic part and you can be an extra good boy. Which means you'll do your chores and eat your vegetables."

You see, Sirius has a talent. His parents knew the moment they brought him to a family dinner. Where he argued with his strict, head strong grandfather on elf rights.

Of course, they tried changing his sharp tongue to side for their causes but Sirius knew what he wanted to fight for. That also came in handy to homophobic comments thrown at him.

His little talent for getting people on his side and word play managed to nudge Teddy. At least the boy won't cause trouble which lessens the possibility of Remus disagreeing.

"Fine, I'll eat the broccoli. Will you actually magic the whole lake ?" Teddy leaned closer with stars in his eyes.

"Oh for my little boy ?" He cradled Teddy in his arms. "I can turn the Queen into a pot of macaroni if you wanted to."

The plan went well. Remus did not suspect a thing. Although he did send Teddy odd looks when he actually swallowed the greens on his plate with no fuss except for a huge jug of water and huge "Yuck!" after.

Teddy cleaned his room before Remus could open his mouth. The 5 year old even attempted at making pancakes one morning. Thankfully, Sirius came to save the poor, burnt pan just in time.

To tell you the truth, Remus was suspicious. But knowing Sirius, he could never keep a secret from him. The man would malfunction trying. he spills everything to Remus.

So once, Remus found Sirius brushing his teeth. He circled the man's waist before hooking his chin on his shoulder.

"Sooo, is there something you are not telling me ?" He asked sweetly.

Sirius almost spat his toothpaste too fast. He continued and shrugged, using the brushing as an excuse to not give Remus a proper answer. If he can't give an answer, that won't count as lying, right ?

Remus stuck with him as he moved around. The skin around Sirius' neck getting warm each time Remus recounts Teddy being weirdly obedient.

The last straw was when Remus pressed his lips on Sirius' shoulder while rubbing on his bare waist like that.  It took everything from Sirius to keep it bottled in.

Remus hummed. "If you're not talking, I guess I will have to literally lock the house down."

That made Sirius' eyes bulge. His mind scattered. "How about me and Teddy go have a talk first, yeah ?"

He let go of Remus' grip and escaped to their son's room. "Teddy Lupin you help me talk to your father or I'm going to implode !" He whisper-yelled.

Teddy giggled at his dad. "Okay, let's go." He held Sirius' finger as they went back to Remus and Sirius' room.

The werewolf was calmly watching a movie, with his gold rimmed glasses perched at the end of his nose. The sight made him look up. "Oh ? What's all this ?"

"Papa, let's go ice skating !"

Remus' smile turned sad. "Teddy, I thought you understood why we can't go. Unless, Sirius had something to do with this ?"

Under Remus' gaze Sirius wanted to shrivel up and disappear so he turned into Padfoot. Pushing Teddy forward with his snout as if telling the little boy to work his puppy eyes on Remus.

"Please papa ? Just this once. Dad says he can turn the lake into an ice globe ! No one can bother us there. We won't catch the virus."

That face, Remus wanted to agree with everything this boy proposes. He wants the Statue of Liberty changed into Mcgonagall's face ? God, he'll do it.

"Please papa." Teddy added a small pout with his blushed cheeks puffed.

Hits Remus right in the heart. He sighed, "What if I told you, I'm one step ahead ?"

Sirius changed back into his human form. "What do you mean ? Is there something you're not telling me ?"

Remus chuckled at his son and husband's looks. "Come with me." He said.

The 2 followed behind him like a mice to cheese. "The fridge ?" Teddy asked aloud.

Remus nodded his head towards Sirius. "You go first Siri."

"What ?! Why me ? Moony if you're pranking me, I swear I'll get you back-"

Remus pulled him into a kiss. "Just get in there."

"The things I do for love !"

With all the wailing, Sirius actually crouched and crawled into the fridge. Not long after, he stood to a garden with a clear blue sky. It almost looks that minecraft game thing Teddy plays but without the whole square concept.

It was a mini paradise.

"You like it ?" A voice said behind him.

Sirius' awe turned into knitted eyebrows. "You kept this from me !"

"I was going to surprise you and Teddy. I spent a long time perfecting it." Remus ushered the little boy to an ice rink, in the middle of summer.

"Here, just for you." He said.

Teddy, with his socks on, squealed and jumped right in. He almost slipped with no blade to hold him up. Teddy looked below him and wow-ed at the glowing things under the ice.

"I made the fish glow." Remus smiled proudly. He turned to Sirius who was silent this whole time.

He was too busy taking it all in. It was perfect, their own world. "I can't with you Remus."

Remus laughed and pulled Sirius in a hug. "Awww you sure about that ?"

He sneaked a kiss or 2
on Sirius' cheek. "Cmon let's not let Teddy enjoy the ice alone."
