By the time I got to the first floor I see the iconic yellow sleeping bag stuffed with a sleeping Aizawa. The people there were all staring at the man, who looked homeless. They all were frozen as they watched him sleep. A smile formed on my face as I walked towards the sleeping bag. I knelt down, feeling all the pairs of eyes stare into my back.
It reminds me of my first year as a UA student and how every time I had to wake him up I would get scared cause let's be real, Aizawa is a scary dude. One day, I woke him up and he said, "Kid, I'm not going to kill you for waking me up," and I bet he regrets saying that to me because since then I wake him up for the hell of it. (Which now that I think about it, that's probably such a mean thing to do but whatever.) Either way Aizawa and I have had a much better relationship that has grown over the years. Dare I say he is almost like my second father to me. When Bakugou and I broke up Aizawa had been the worst to Bakugou, making him do extra training, grading him harder, and just being an absolute dick to the hedgehog. I didn't even realize it was happening until a month later when Bakugou had begged me to get Aizawa off his back.
I chuckle at the memory and lightly tap Aizawa's shoulder. His eyes shoot wide open, "Finally you're here," He said sleepily, "I've been waiting for forever," he slips out of his sleeping bag and we walk out of the agency.
"It took me five minutes to get downstairs!" I chuckle lightly as we walked across the street to a sandwich shop, "you should sleep more. I'm pretty sure everyone thought you were homeless,"
He gives me a look and opens the door for me. We find a table and sit down ordering some food. We catch up on what I've been doing training wise and he tells me about the different raids and how they continue to be fails further proving his point that there is a traitor, "So, what did you want kind of update do you have for me?" He asks taking a bite of his sandwich.
I shift in my seat, unsure about his reaction will be, "So yesterday I was going to Hawks' office about work and to have a dinner," Aizawa gives me a look, which I ignore, "he got a call from his receptionist so he went to check it out. While he was gone there was a vibration in the room. I used my quirk to find where it was and found the vibrations were coming from a burner phone in his drawer, beneath a bunch of stuff," Aizawa quirked his eyebrow up, signaling me to continue, " I picked up the phone and there was a text from an unknown number 'meet me at our spot in thirty minutes or else'" I recited waiting for Aizawa's reaction, which unsurprisingly displayed no emotion.
"What did you do after?" Aizawa asked.
"I heard him coming back so I stuffed the phone back and sat back down like nothing happened," I shrugged, "he said he got a call from Endeavors office and needed to see him. For a second I thought he was lying because of the text, so when he left I went to corroborate the story, and sure enough Endeavor had called him, or rather the agency. Once I did that, I had ran back to his office to check the phone, but by the time I had got there, he was already back,"
Aizawa's eyes widened as he took a sip of water, "He was already back?"
I nodded, "That's exactly what I was thinking! He was back in a matter of thirty minutes tops!"
Aizawa nodded and leaned back in the wooden chair, thinking, "It's all very suspicious (y/n) I'm not going to lie,"
"But..." I prompted.
"But," he said giving me a narrowed look, "it's not enough. Hawks is how old? 22?" I nodded, "Being the number two hero he has seen more at his young age than most people have. He could just need a little something to take the edge off,"
I quirked my eyebrow, "that's literally what I thought last night, but I wasn't a hundred percent sure,"
Aizawa nods but then continues as if thinking through all the options, "I say that, but with the text saying, 'or else?' I don't think that's something a drug dealer would say," Aizawa puts his hands through his dark locks of hair, "be careful (Y/n). I'm not saying that Hawks isn't capable of being a traitor to the heroes. He clearly can being his age and his fast race through the ranks, but then again younger heroes tend to be more loyal than the older ones," He shrugged.
'"So, do you have any useful things to say? Like what should I do next?" I cross my arms over my chest.
"If you're asking me if he can be a suspect for me to look into, my answer is no. I need undeniable proof that he's working with the league. That goes for anyone else on your suspect list,"
I nodded, "My suspect list isn't very long, there's maybe five or six people, all of whom are retired and have no connection with the commissions anymore. A lot of people aren't heroes for the right reasons but they haven't shown any kind of traitorous behavior," I shake my head, "god this is hard,"
Aizawa nodded, "If it's too hard then I could maybe give it to someone else..."
"NO!" I stopped him, "I can do this,"
"Good, that's what I expect," after a little silence he huffed, "Hawks may be a cocky bastard, but he doesn't strike me as a traitor," Aizawa smiles, "and if he is the traitor then he is a cocky bastard and an amazing liar,"
I sigh. Until I can prove that Keigo is doing drugs, or some kind of explanation for the text, then he is going to continue to be a suspect. Here I was hoping that lunch with Aizawa would put me at ease, and in a way it has because now I know what I need to do next to prove Keigo is in the clear.
And the way to do that is to get that phone.
