I've haven't stopped walking all night. I tossed my phone after I got multiple calls from Aizawa. It's possible they're tracking me; it was the right thing to do. It's likely they think that the League got to me first, and the League for sure knows that I'm gone too, meaning that I'm really on my own.
I trudge through the forest, yawning as I walk in the darkness. I'm careful about where I step, trying to avoid the rocks, and bugs, and the snakes that may or may not be out here with me. It's quiet, other than the animals that are with me. The sky is pitch black besides the glitter of stars that are the only things that provide even the dimmest amount of light.
I'm inclined to climb a tree and maybe sleep until sunrise, but I don't want to get eaten alive by bugs, or risk the League randomly stumbling upon me.
I can't tell whether or not Keigo is on my side or not. It's clear that he is a traitor for the heroes, but is he a traitor to me? I mean, yes, he drugged me and tried to "deliver" me to Dabi, as if I'm a piece of meat. But he also warned me, I think. I can't remember everything, but I do vaguely remember him saying something about how he could have prolonged things?
Nothing makes sense. Damnit, if he's going to drug me the least he could do is make sure the drug doesn't erase my memories the next day.
I continue trudging through the forest making sure to follow the stars for direction.
Oh, who am I kidding? I don't know how to use the stars for direction. I'm definitely lost in the forest. I walk around, continuing in one direction, hearing for footsteps other than mind- which never came. Eventually I found a spot and sat down against a tree. It was by no means comfortable on my back but the exhaustion from walking for hours hit me like a brick wall and I fell asleep.
-------
I don't remember when I woke up, or even how long I was asleep. All I remember was the smell of smoke that scorched my lungs. My eyes open and the most beautiful blue meets my eyes. The tree's around me were on fire. Blue fire.
They're nearby.
Quickly I jumped up and ran, panting after just a few steps. How much smoke had I inhaled? God damn, since when is sleep so important?
I look up into the sky my eyes quickly catching the angelic pair of crimson wings. My heart starts to race as I realize the truth of how close they are. It's only a matter of time before he spots me, or maybe he has already spotted me.
I keep running in one direction, the faster I get to the main road the better. The sky was starting to turn shades of lighter blue, the sun rising up. If I don't get to the main road I won't have the darkness to cover me anymore. God, I am so careless.
"You think she died in the fire?" It was a girl's voice. I quickly duck into the bush and cover my mouth. Not a sound.
"No way, she's way to smart for that, Toga," A male's voice, although I can't clearly tell who it is.
More footsteps, "I really want to meet her Dabi," the girl, Toga said, "I want to taste her blood," she made a slurping sound and I inwardly cringed. We have a vampire, a bird, and a piece of burnt skin trying to kidnap me. Fantastic.
"Stop being creepy and try to see if you can smell her blood, or whatever you do," Dabi said in disgust,"
There's a pause, "I don't smell human blood, just the animals," she said. So she is definitely a vampire, "you think Hawks will be able to spot her?"
"He better be able, he's a hero for a reason so he can't be so useless," he scoffs
Toga giggles and they continue, their footsteps slowly fading away. I grab a decently sized rock and throw it in the opposite direction they came in, which is towards the fire. I watch as they turn around to the sound of the rock hitting against the bushes and I see them walk towards the sound.
Once they were gone, I was off, hoping that Hawks couldn't see me.
Hawks POV
There are many reasons I fell for Y/N, one of them is because she is smart. I spotted her a while ago, against a tree, sleeping. She looked so peaceful while the fire rushed towards her. I waited for the smoke to get to her but even that didn't wake her up, so I sent a feather towards her, tickled her nose, and watched as she woke up in an understandable panic.
She started running and I'm sure she noticed me because she started running faster. I hope she gets out of here, but at the same time, I can't compromise myself or my loyalties. Why did Dabi have to pick her of all people?
I watched as she threw the rock, dashing away while Dabi and Toga stupidly walked towards the sound. I chuckled to myself at how a simple movie tactic worked.
I love my girl. Too bad we are on opposite sides.
From the sky I watch as she makes it to the main road just as the sun rises. She isn't completely safe on the deserted roads, but it's better than Dabi finding her, because I know Dabi isn't going to want to be outside anymore.
I hope we don't see each other any time soon, Y/N, because if that time comes, I won't be able to protect you.
---------------
God damn it's been a while. I hate junior year; it's been so rough and just awful. Writing and planning the different scenes in this story (and the next) has been a great de-stressor, but I can only do that so often.
I'll update as it comes but considering I have five tests on Monday I highly doubt I will be able too. I'll try to see you guys soon.
Also, I want to be clear that no matter what I'm finishing this and I'm not going to pull an "updated 2014" thing. (iykyk)
