Aight, I'm back. I'm not doing an updating schedule, cause I'm a spontaneous person. Enjoy the chapter!

Your POV

After Keigo ditched me I went home and Miranda was finally back! "Hey!" I looked at the blonde. She was making what looked like pasta and turned around. I took off my shoes and quickly washed my hands before meeting her in the kitchen.

"Hey (y/n)! How was your break?!" she asked while stirring the noodles.

"Oh yea, break," I said hesitantly. She stopped and looked at me with a questioned look.

"Spill. Everything," she commanded, and so I did. I told her about the drama with mom and the accusations she made. I told her how I fought back and then left. I did leave out the kiss and that Keigo and I are together now because... no.

She listened closely to every word I said nodding her head and giving me shocked expressions as I told her the shit mom had done. There were lots of "no ways," "What the fuck?" and "wow" which is exactly what I would expect.

I doubt anyone's mother is as crazy as mine.

By the time I was done she drained the pasta and had added sauce, cheese and plated for the both of us.

"So basically your mom thinks that you're sleeping with Hawks and so because of that she is mentally torturing you?" Miranda clarified

I shrug, "Yeah that was the tipping point. There was a lot more build-up,"

Miranda nods understanding my hesitation to talk, "How was your break?" I asked desperate to divert the topic.

"Well it actually wasn't a break, it was work," I raised an eyebrow and she continued, "A team and I had done a drug bust," she explained stopping like that was enough.

"Well? What are you waiting for? I wanna hear this!" I demand.

She raises her eyebrow, "you sure? it can get kind of boring,"

I shake my head, "No way. On the off chance that mom and I were on a good day, she would tell me stories about infiltrating the mafia, and doing drug busts, and taking down traffickers. Even though she probably exaggerated a lot of it," I said, "either way, I want to hear your stories,"

Miranda smiles appreciatively, "Thanks (y/n). One problem with doing undercover work like this is that credit usually goes to the pro hero even though, between you and me, they barely do anything," She rolls her eyes annoyed, "but I didn't become a hero for fame, I became a hero to help people, and doing what I do is a way that I can help dozens of people at once,"

I nod understanding, that was mom and dad's reasoning too. Of course, they came out of undercover and went pro so that says a lot about them...

"I agree. That's something I think about a lot, of course, I could just stay out of the media, but then again doing undercover work is," I can't find the words,

"An adrenaline rush?" Miranda fills.

I nod, "exactly,"

"Y'know (y/n) undercover isn't all sunshine and all," Miranda smiles sadly, "sometimes you have to make tough calls, you have to work twice as hard yo make sure you don't fuck up, and sometimes when you have no other option you just have to," she moves her thumb across her neck.

I gasp, "Have you...?"

Her eyes widen, "No, no god no," she shakes her head, "but a friend of mine had to make the hard call. The guilt practically killed him, and he was asked to leave because he was just that messed up,"

I stare at my plate, I wonder if mom and dad ever had to off someone.

"I doubt your parents have ever had to do that," Miranda said reading my thoughts, "it's usually a complete last resort kind of situation,"

I nod, and look back at her. Our plates now empty we quickly washed the dishes before sitting at the couch. It had been a while since she and I sat down and talked. We had been doing it often, which brought us close, but obviously, I haven't been with her for a while.

"I don't know if it's my place to say," she started looking unsure, "but, just be careful with Hawks,"

"What do you mean?" I asked getting up to get a blanket. It was freezing.

"Like, you're still a student, and I know you're 18 so technically you're of legal age, but Hawks is technically your 'teacher' so you know if you're going to mess around, wait until you get your hero license, because if the press, school, or really anyone finds out," she looked dead into my eyes, "you can kiss your future goodbye,"

I shiver again, this time from her warning. Everything Miranda said was true, if anyone ever found out about our relationship. That's it. Both of us are going to be so screwed.

And yeah, she's right, but why the hell is she talking about this? What does she know?

"But, also Hawks is a player, sooner or later he is going to screw you over, if you were dating him," she gets up from the couch, "and by you I mean everyone," her eyes darken as she talks about him. Damn, she must have really liked him.

Even though Miranda says this, I just don't feel like he would do that. Keigo, is just too sweet and besides, he said it himself that we were official, so why would he do anything to hurt me? What would he even gain?

"Anyway, I'm going to take an early night. That mission was so damn tiring," she yawns and heads to her room, closing the door behind her.
