"One more month (y/n)," Aizawa is stern in my ear, "you get one month to get me a name with solid evidence before you're done with this, got it?"
I stupidly answered Aizawa's call. I know he's been getting super impatient recently, which makes sense. It's been almost five months since he's given this, and with the resources he's given me, it makes sense that he's been impatient.
I think I might have to go back home and snoop through dad's files again, but my gut keeps telling me to look into Keigo. But I don't understand why. The wrenching feeling of uneasiness keeps seeping into my stomach and god, I feel so damn gross all the time. Even worse, Keigo's been out and about later in the evenings after work. Last few days I've wanted to spend the night with him since Miranda was out, but every time I've checked his location he wouldn't be at the agency or at his apartment. Then later in the night he would text me to see if he could come over. Everyday he is at the same place, which seems like it's in he middle of nowhere. It would make sense if he was on patrol, but I know when his patrol shifts are because I'm usually doing patrol with him.
It's suspicious, and I definitely haven't confronted him about it. It's his business and who knows it could be a special secret mission or whatever.
"Yes sir," I say firmly, "I'll do my best," I hear a grunt on the other line.
"It's not the end of the world (y/n) if you can't figure it out. Honestly, there could be a possibility that we're just not hitting the spots, or maybe they're getting better. There is just no way to know for sure,"
I thank him for easing the stress a little before ending the call and getting back to doing paperwork. I'm not looking forward to this part when I go pro. Paperwork is so boring, and what's worse is that it has to be in paper form because Keigo likes having paper and digital copies. He literally could let me type it and then print it out!
I think he likes torturing me.

"Hey, I'm going on a break, you wanna come with me?" Miranda asks a few hours later. With a grateful yes, we leave and go outside during this beautiful day. It was the epitome of "the sun is shining and the birds were singing".
"So, about last week, when your mom came," she started watching her white shoes, that she has somehow been able to maintain as white as they are, "are you okay? We never talked about it,"
I shrugged. There really was nothing to talk about. Mom left, and I went to my room, took a shower, ate dinner, caught up with some friends from school and that was the end of it. The second mom left, the raging fire in me burnt out and I was back to my normal self.
"There isn't much to talk about. She came to the apartment, was pretending to be sorry, and then left without making a scene probably because you were there. Which thank you by the way," I met her eyes, smiling.
She chuckles lightly, putting her blonde hair into a messy bun, "You're mom asked me so many questions about me, and my job, and Hawks. She was impressed when I said that I was an undercover hero,"
I scoffed, "Duh, it's because she was an undercover hero for years before she became a Pro. They've been trying to turn me into them since I was born,"
We reached the agency, "Wait really? That explains why she kept telling me to tell you about my experiences and stuff," I pulled open the door letting Miranda inside.
"Yeah, she used to make me meet all her colleagues when I was younger, and tell me to listen to their stories. But they were always so gruesome it made me not want to be an undercover hero,"
We went into the elevator and Miranda pushed the buttons to our respective floors, "Do you still want to go undercover?"
I haven't thought about that for a long time. At some point I do remember Keigo saying he would give me a side-kick position, but I've seen what his side-kicks do, and it's not gratifying. Plus, most people that become side-kicks stay as side-kicks, "I don't know. I haven't really been exposed to anything but undercover heroism. It feels weird knowing I have other options,"
Miranda's floor comes and the elevator doors open to reveal men and women in suits running around, "I guess that's what happens when you have over-bearing and controlling parents," She walks out, holding her hand out so the doors don't close, "This is my stop, but I'll see you back at home?"
I nod, "See ya,"

Hawks POV
"You've got one month," patchwork said. He sat on the couch man spreading, smoking a cigarette, "I've given you a shit ton of time,"
"C'mon Dabi, you're being irrational,"
He raises a burnt eyebrow, "I'm being irrational? You're the stupid idiot who can't even get a hero in training to trust you enough," He called me here today, yesterday, the day before that. Almost every single day for the past week he's been calling me to the hideout, which is just a smelly old place, and bullying me for not getting (y/n).
"Fine, I'll bring her," I scoffed for the fourth time that week, "she's just a suspicious person okay? She was raised that way. It's going to take time to be able to just trick her into coming with me,"
That creepy girl, Toga looks at me with excited eyes, "Does this mean I'll finally get to meet her soon?"
Dabi nodded, "Yeah, either you're going to meet her with the help of Hawks," he looks at me from the corner of his eye, "or you're going to meet her when we take her ourselves,"
Toga's already excited eyes, somehow get even brighter with excitement, "Oh my god, I can't wait to meet her,"
"And I can not wait for her to get here so I can do what I want," Dabi added, mocking Toga. She gave him a pouty look.
I rested my hands on my hips, "And what could those plans be?"
He smirked, like the something he knew would be so fun for him to tell me. I'm totally going to regret this.
"Well then..." He continued to talk, and after the first few words I stopped listening. I stopped moving. I stopped breathing. The ground swayed under me, everything started to blur out of my vision. My mind couldn't wrap around this. I can't let her get dragged into this, I can't let this happen to her.
I love her too much to let this happen. I will not let this happen to her.
Not under my watch.
