Chapter 31

Arena

"I'm so hungry..." I wined as we walked. "Well we skipped breakfast and it's probably around 4 o'clock." "I want chicken strips from Burger King." "Really you had that the night before this all happened."

"The was like three weeks ago though...." "Yeah but we had it more recently so I figured you would want something else." "No I want chicken strips, which are at Burger King." "Okay, okay I get it you want chicken strips-"

He cut himself off and I looked at him. "What?" He smiled at me "I see now." I looked at him confused "I thought you always could." "What? No that's not what I meant." He laughed a little an I smiled.

"I meant I understand now, Burger King is your favorite restaurant isn't it?" I thought about it for a second "Yeah I guess so, but not a lot of people like going there." "I'd rather go there then most places."

I was about to say something but I heard rusting sounds next to me I stopped walking and grabbed David's arm. "What are-" "shhh something's coming." Then two squirrels ran out in front of us and jumped on rocks across the river.

"Be Careful they might eat us." I heard David say and I blushed. "S-shut up! It could of been a bear or something." "I think a bear would of made more noises." "I-well-I'm not talking to you anymore meany head!"

He laughed a little "I'm sorry, will you forgive me?" "No I will not!" "Oh come on please." I looked away "no I will never forgive you." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah!" "Not even if I do this?"

He started to tickle me and I feel to the ground almost immediately. "Okay okay you win. I forgive you." He stopped tickling me and smiled "Good." I look up at him and notice how close we were to each other.

David was silent and I gave him a concern look "you okay David?" "Yeah, why?" "You've been acting a little weird today." "Like how?" I shrugged "you've been kind of quiet today."

"Sorry I didn't mean to worry you. I'm fine, just been thinking about stuff." "Oh okay..." We sat there in silents for a feel seconds. "Arena I..." "Wait a second did you hear that?" I asked interrupting him. "No...."

We went silent again. "How about that time?" I asked hearing it again. "Yeah it sounds like..." "Cars!" I grabbed David's hand and started to run toward the sound.

After about five minutes of running I heard David yell "slow down Arena I don't want us to fall off another cliff!" "No we're almost there!"

And right after I said that the trees came to an end and there was a road and cars zooming by. Tears of joy came to my eyes and I looked at David who was smiling.

"We can finally go home." "Yes we can." We started to wave at the cars to get there attention but none of them stop. "They must think we're hitch hickers, we might have to walk some more."

"No that's all we have been doing for I don't know how long now." "But no one is stopping." David said and I looked at the cars. "Then I'll make them stop." I ran out on the road.

"Arena no!" I heard David but it was to late. The car that was coming saw me and hit the breaks and everything went white.
