It was time for the second round of the Vytal festival to begin, to start it off was the duo matches. The first of these matches was going to be Chris and Rider against Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai. Cinder Fall had set this match up for a reason, no one but her knows that reason. Y/N, who had managed to recover was sitting in the stands waiting for his team to fight along side Benny and his girlfriend Blake. Chris and Rider had prepared for this fight after it was announced, there was no way that they would be losing. Y/N had informed Chris and Rider of Mercury and Emerald's true nature. The two wanted to report them but Y/N wanted them to wait a little bit longer.
Down in the arena, Chris and Rider were getting ready for the fight. Across the field was Emerald and Mercury, they were smirking at the two. Chris and Rider didn't let their looks get to them, they were focused only on the match. "Let's hope what Y/N did works against her mind tricks" Rider said. "Come on dude, you need to trust Y/N more" Chris replied. "I trust Y/N with my life, but those two are up to something" Rider said. "I get it, I do but we need to keep our guard up" Chris replied.
"Are you two just going to stand there like statues?" Mercury asked Chris and Rider "don't worry about us dude" Chris replied. "This is going to be some real fun" Emerald said "For who, us or you?" Rider asked. Emerald didn't answer, she just chuckled a bit which put Rider off a bit. "Okay everyone, the first match of the duo round is about to begin" Oobleck announced. "This first match is between two teams Christopher Woods and Rider Lang of Beacon academy against Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai of Haven academy" professor Port said.
"Be ready for this fang face" Rider said readying his bow "you know me blind man" Chris replied unleashing his claws. The round began and the arena split into four parts, each a different type of environment. There was a geyser field, a forested area, a ruined city and a grassy field. Quickly Emerald and Mercury hid in the grass field avoiding a frontal attack on Chris and Rider.
"Huginn and Muninn" Rider said causing two drones appear and fly into the air. "I'll deal with the grass" Chris said stepping forwards. His claws began to glow a light blue before he unleahed a flurry of slashes with strong wind force. Each slash cut apart the grassy field where Mercury and Emerald were hidding. "I found you" Rider whispered as he quickly looked up and fired two arrows. Rider's arrows end up hitting Mercury who was trying to attack in the air. "How did you find me?" Mercury asked as he tried to dodge Rider's arrows.
Emerald tried to take Chris by surpris but his senses were to great and he was able to avoid Emerald's attack. Rider was able to hit both Emerald and Mercury. Emerald was sent flying into the forest area of the arena. "Hunt her down fang face" Rider said "don't get shot blind man" Chris replied. Suddenly Chris began to change as his semblance activated. This time Chris began to grow larger as he took on more of a wolf like appearance. Once finished Chris resembled a giant werewolf like creature

Chris let out a loud howl as he ran into the forest area on all fours. "Your girlfriend is in some serious trouble now" Rider said to Mercury. "Don't worry about her, she can take care of herself, you should be worried about yourself" Mercury replied. "Since I've came to this school I've learned not to brag about my skills but just this once I will say that you are in for a major surprise" Rider said aiming his bow at Mercury.
