Chapter 4: The Day Before The Initiation

It was the day of the entrance exam when us first years would form our teams. I already knew what was going to happen as Coco and them had told me what they had to do. I tried to keep my focus but I couldn't help think about yesterday with Yang. Last night wasn't any help either with anything. However I did manage to open up a bit and make a new friend.

Last Night

I managed to find a spot to set up my sleeping bag. It was out of the way of people so no one would bother me. It was like that until Benny decided to set up his sleeping bag next to mine. When I asked him why he simply said that during a sleep over no one should be alone. I wanted to argue with him but for some reason I felt calm around him. We actually managed to talk for some time. It was very interesting apparently Benny had a cybernetic implant that ran up his spine and on his ribcage. He turned around and showed me his back. I could see the black metal sticking out of his skin. He then went on to talk about how it changed his semblance he used to be able to form a golden light armor around his body but thanks to the implant it forms a suit around him and he can create light shields and barriers.

I could tell he was very passionate and thankful for his implants. Then Benny asked me about my arm. I froze a bit I didn't know if I could tell him truth. I decided that since he wasn't a bad guy that I'd tell him some of the truth. I told Benny that my arm was badly damaged so it got removed and replaced with this biotech arm. I also showed him my eye and told him that it was also an implant. I also opened up about my semblance I told him that I can adapt to survive anything and that my arm can change into weapons.

Benny could tell I wasn't telling him everything about myself. "Look man it's not my place but I can tell there's something wrong, you don't have to tell me anything but if you want I'm here as a friend" Benny said. Friend an interesting word I never thought I'd make any friends besides team CVFY. But I guess Benny was my friend. I didn't name names but I told him that I was abused at a young age physically, verbally and mentally by my father and older sister. I also told him that I was experimented on after escaping my family. Benny had a sad look on his face he hugged me "listen man I know you don't want sympathy from me but I will tell you that I'm glad that your better now" Benny said.

After things calmed down with me and Benny we tried to go to sleep but there was a group talking very loudly. I tried to cancel them out but it wasn't working. I got up I saw that Benny was asleep he had earmuffs on "lucky" I thought. I went over to the loud group that was irritating me. The people were that Weiss girl, Ruby and Yang. They noticed me "oh hey Y/N" Ruby said "hey there rude ass" Yang said "who are you?" Weiss asked. "Hey Ruby" I said "I'm Y/N princess" I said coldly. Yang was irritated that I was ignoring her "don't start this again" Yang said. "Listen you two you girls need to quiet down unlike my giant friend I don't have a way to not hear you" I said. "He's right people are trying to sleep" a voice said.

The person was the Faunus girl from before the one who was hiding her ears. "No one asked you" Weiss said "I also came over to silence these dolts" she added. "Whatever heiress" the girl said walking away. I don't know why but I was intrigued by the girl. I tried to go after her but Yang stopped me "listen we aren't going to play this game again" Yang said. I sighed "what game?" I asked "you being rude and ignoring but only talking to my sister" she answered. "Listen you are being a problem I can only control myself for so long" I said "what does that mean?" Yang asked angrily.

Not wanting to answer I went invisible and walked around her. I could hear all of their confusion as they wondered where I went and what had just happened. I followed the Faunus girl to her spot. "I know your there show yourself" she said. I revealed myself "need to work on hiding my scent" I said. "Sure whatever" the girl said rolling her eyes "your sarcasm is noted but come on I'm not them" I said. "You may sound cold and emotionless but you aren't" the girl said. I tried to chuckle "I wish I haven't been able to laugh or smile since I was kid" I said.

I guess that took the girl back a bit "really now" she said. I decided to sit down next to her she scooted a bit away. "Yeah I haven't been able to cry much either I guess when you've shedded as many tears as I have your tear ducts just dry up" I said. I don't know why I was telling her these things she wasn't like Benny she felt like me. Like she had seen the darkness of the world and she had been through something life changing.

"Why are you talking to me?" she asked "well I don't know exactly, it feels like your someone I can trust" I answered. The girl chuckled sarcastically "trust me I am not that someone" she said "from what my new friend over has shown me is that everyone needs to trust someone" I said. The girl was silent "I guess your right" she said "no problem thanks for talking with me" I said. I decided that I should go get some sleep "wait I didn't get your name" the girl said "neither did I" I replied. "It's Blake" she said "well Blake it's Y/N nice talking to you" I said. Before I left I said "you know you don't have to hide" I said. That supprised Blake "wait but how?" she asked. "Its a secret" was all I said as left Blake and returned to my sleeping bag next to Benny.

Present

I was in the locker room getting ready I didn't really need armor or a weapon so I grabbed my gloves. Benny's locker was next to mine he had no armor on either just a brown leather jacket. "No armor for you?" he asked "no not really" I answered. Benny I walked towards the location of the entrance exam. We ran into Ruby along the way. She was with this guy and Yang. "Damn your tall dude" the guy said Benny lightly chuckled "uh thanks I guess" he said. "Oh uh sorry if I was rude" the guy said apologizing. Benny shrugged his shoulders "it isn't a problem I get it a lot" Benny said. After that the guy introduced himself to us his name was Jaune Arc.

Ruby was looking at Benny's weapon "what kind of weapon is that?" she asked "this is a sword of mine that has multiple transformations, it can turn into a chainsaw sword with the option of an energy blade and a rail cannon" Benny answered. Next Jaune brought up his weapon it was a sword that his great great grandfather used in the war. It could turn into a sword with a sheath and expand into a shield. Ruby wasn't super impressed with it like Benny's.

Jaune noticed that I didn't have a weapon "hey what about you Y/N?" he asked "oh Y/N's is super cool" Ruby said "yeah Y/N I would like to see how you do it" Benny said. I decided to show them I turned my hand into a pistol and then into a sword. They were amazed by my arm even Yang who was not talking to me. "So Y/N have you thought about teams yet?" Jaune asked "no not really I guess it depends" I answered. "Do you know what the entrance exam is?" Ruby asked Benny and Jaune shook their heads no "I do" I said. That supprised them "HOW!" they asked "I'm friends with a team of second years they told me how everything goes" I answered. "Tell us Y/N" Ruby said "yeah come on Y/N don't leave me hanging" Benny said. I began to walk "just go and see" I said leaving them.

Time Skip

There we stood on the cliffs that stood above the forest infested with grim. "Welcome all you students, today is the day that you will form your teams that you will be with till the end of your senior year" Ozpin said. "Down there is the Emerald forest and it is full of dangerous grim" Ozpin said. Next Ozpin brought up what we had to do "deep in the forest there is a temple you will take an artifact from the temple and report back here". I was waiting for him to say it "you will form a team with whoever you first make eye contact with after you land". That made all of the others whisper amongst themselves. Ozpin then went over the dangers and the possible death that could happen. Jaune asked some questions about we were going to get down there. Ozpin simply said that we were going to be catapulted down there. Then before he could say anything Jaune was catapulted into the air. I walked over to the catapults "good luck" Ozpin said as I was sent flying.
