Chapter 46: Getting To The Bottom Of Things

Holding Cell

Yang Xaio Long was sitting in a holding cell after her match with Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai. Apparently Yang had attacked Mercury after her and Weiss had won their match. Most believed that what Yang was did was not warranted and she deserved immediate punishment. Others questioned if what Yang was saying about self defense was right. Ruby had messaged Y/N to come back and help get things settled. Until further notice Yang was going to sit behind bars until she was allowed to be released.

"What do you know, I never would of thought to see you in this position" a voice said to Yang. Yang looked up and saw Y/N standing there in front of her cell. "Did you come here to gloat, insult me or put me in my place?" Yang asked Y/N. "Your my big sister, regardless of things you've done, I came here to get this figured out and see if I can prove your innocence" Y/N answered. Yang grew quiet hearing Y/N's answer.

Y/N walked closer to the cell which caused the guards to aim their guns at Y/N. "Stand back from the cell or you will be shot" the guards said to Y/N. Y/N turned and faced the guards "I don't know if you Atlas jarheads know this or not but that is my sister and if I ask Ironwood he'd say otherwise" Y/N told them. The guards grew silent then lowered the weapons "we will be watching" a guard said before both of them walked away.

Y/N then grabbed a chair and sat down in front of Yang's cell and crossed his arms. "That was unexpected" Yang said "well you've caused a real stir in Vale, they see you and even me as dangerous" Y/N replied. Yang sighed "yeah it sucks but that's why I'm here" Y/N said. "What are you going to do to help me?" Yang asked "I'm gonna do the best I can" Y/N answered. "Care to explain how exactly you are going to do that?" Yang asked.

Y/N sat back in his chair "I have some questions that are going to be answered and I'm going to check out some things" he answered. "What are you going to check out first?" Yang asked Y/N. "I'm going to check out the footage of the match and a few other things" Y/N answered. "Why are you doing this for me?" Yang asked Y/N. "Honestly I don't know why, maybe it's because I feel like it's some sort of satisfaction helping you when never helped me, maybe its because your my sister and I want to help you because we're family" Y/N answered.

Yang grew silent, hearing Y/N say that "I wish I knew why I'm helping you, Ruby asked me to help and if she's forgiven you and I've put my issues to rest, you deserve help" Y/N said. "All I know was that he attacked me first and I protected myself" Yang said. Y/N looked at Yang and saw her face and could feel her emotions as she pled her innocence to him. Y/N put his biotech hand on the bars "I believe you and I am going to help you" Y/N said.

Ozpin's Office

I had finished talking with Yang and now I was going to go to Ozpin's office and have a talk with him about what happened in the arena. I went up the elevator and saw Ozpin sitting at his desk with Goodwitch and Ironwood standing at his desk. "Oh hello there Y/N, what a surprise to see you here" Ozpin said to me. "I think you know why I am here Oz" I said walking up to his desk. "I would think that you would be getting ready for your eventual fight in the festival" Ironwood said to me.

"That is the least of my worries right now, what I want to know is what happened after Weiss and Yang's match" I replied. "You were informed of miss Xaio Long's actions?" Miss Goodwitch asked me. "All I know is that Yang and Weiss won only for Yang to attack her defeated opponent hurting him severely" I answered. "But by the look on your face you don't belive that?" Ozpin asked me.

"No I don't, if anyone in the world knows how Yang is and how she acts that would be me" I answered. "You wish to do some investigating of the incident yourself?" Miss Goodwitch asked me. "I intend to do so and no one is going to stop me from finding out what happened" I answered. "Where would you like to start your investigation?" Ozpin asked me. "I want to see the footage of the match and then I'll do some more investigating" I answered.

"I don't think you'll find much other then your sister losing control in the heat of battle" Ironwood said to me. "I will be the judge of that" I replied "if you find anything that might prove your sister innocent let me know" Ozpin said "you'll be one of the few people to know" I replied.

Time Skip

Team CYBR Dorm

I was in my team's going over the footage of the match, my hope was to find something that would prove Yang's claim of self defense. As I watched towards the end of the match I saw the moment when Yang attacked that Mercury Black person. With my nanomachies I checked over and over again if the footage had been doctored in any way. With each time I couldn't find anything wrong with the footage. What happened during that fight happened, Yang did attack that guy without him attacking first.

"Damn" I say to myself, I didn't want to see this but it was there as clear as day. Seeing the footage and how it played out, there was something in the back of my mind telling me that something else was going on. Soon my teammates came walking into the dorm and saw me there on my scroll. "Oh hey there Y/N" Benny said "I thought you were busy at your spot?" Chris asked. "Something came up and I came back here" I answered. "So you heard about what happened?" Rider asked me "yeah I did" I answered.

"Are you going to do something about it?" Benny asked me "that's what I'm trying to do now" I answered. "How far have you gotten?" Chris asked "not far enough" I answered. "What have you found?" Rider asked "so far I've found some undoctored footage putting things not in Yang's favor" I answered. "What are you going to do next?" Benny asked "I'm going to get down to the bottom of things" I answered. "You should start with those two that we fought and Yang and Weiss fought" Chris suggested.

That was a place to start, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, two people who were working with Cinder. That was one of the reasons why I believed Yang. Those two were to not be trusted and they must of done something. I decided to build up a case around the two of them. I started out by asking Chris and Rider what exactly happened when they fought Emerald and Mercury.

"The Emerald chick was trying to get in my mind and mess with it" Chris explained to me. "Even when she was fighting Chris, I could feel her trying to get into my mind" Rider said. That was good to hear that my nano machines kept their minds safe. My mind couldn't be messed with any more due to the nanomachies. I could sense what other people's semblances were and Emerald's was that of the mind. She could mess with people's minds, making them see things and much more.

Another thing that crossed my mind was how Emerald and Mercury were not disqualified after Chris and Rider beat them. That raised more questions in my mind, that was something I was going to have to look in to. Immediately I used my nanomachines to hack in to the system that was running the vytal festival. Right away I found things that stuck out and bothered me. This was something that I was going to bring up to Ozpin.

The deeper I looked the more things began to come to light. If I was to get to the bottom of this I would need to get inside of Yang's mind. That was a place I didn't exactly want to go but if I was to prove her innocence I was going to have to get over it. Before I went back to Yang, I sent what I had found to Ozpin and asked him to check on it. If he didn't I was going to do something.
