Blinking Evaline looked at Jen confused, "You knew?" she asked taking a quick glance to the other end of the table at her father, "Both of you knew and you didn't say anything as soon as we got here?" she questioned now looking at Rudy across from her who simply shrugged.

"Yes, your mother in law saw the ice skating rink on your finger and called me to see if I knew why there was a wedding band added when you were only supposed to be engaged," Jen informed her.

"O......kay," Evaline said slowly, "So why aren't you freaking out?"

"Oh, believe me daughter of mine I did," Mark responded, "I got it out of my system and now I'd like to know why we couldn't wait before I freak again."

"Look to be fair you weren't supposed to find out," Evaline told him. Humming Rudy shook his head, "That's not gonna help," he whispered.

"Start talking. I don't care who but one of you explain," Mark demanded.

"So before we get into this I think I should start by telling you that I'm listed as the father on Cara's birth certificate," Rudy told them. "Who's idea was that?" Mark interrupted.

"Completely mine," Rudy replied, "She had no idea I did it until we got her birth certificate in the mail and we were in the middle of arguing about it when we decided we didn't want to leave Charleston unless we were married. We wanted to leave a family," he explained, "It was completely impulsive and we apologize that you weren't there, but to what Evaline was starting to tell you we had every intention of holding a wedding for all of our friends and family, but now with this virus we don't really know when that's going to happen."

"So if there was no pandemic my daughter would be married and I wouldn't have known?" Mark questioned.

"Well technically, but we were kind of hoping you'd overlook that part," Evaline responded glancing at Rudy when he cleared his throat. "Don't help," he told her.

"Look Mr. Smith, what we talked about before I asked her to marry me has not changed. I love your daughter and I love your grand-daughter. They're the most important thing in my life and nothing is going to change that. However, I also understand your anger. If Cara got married without my knowing I'd probably kill the guy," Rudy said.

"So do you prefer poison or shot gun?"

"Mark, that's enough," Jen spoke up, rolling her eyes, "The kids explained and now we're done with it," she said glaring at her husband. "I'm not done with it," he muttered, stubbornly, "I mean excuse me for wanting to walk my daughter down the aisle."

"And you will," Evaline told him, "I want that too which is why we have all intentions of having a wedding for everyone to celebrate with us. We just don't know when that's going to be now. I mean you can ask Jen we had started talking about venues and dresses and stuff right before the world shut down," she said, turning to her step-mother.

"We were," Jen confirmed.

"Fine," Mark relented, "As long as I can walk you down some sort of aisle eventually."

"I can't believe your mom ratted us out," Evaline said, rolling her eyes as Rudy snorted.
