Walking off the plane at 8:30p.m. Alaskan time Evaline yawned as she glanced at her watch showing it was 12:30a.m. in Charleston. Taking Rudy's hand she leaned her head against his upper arm as they walked."I know. We'll go to bed as soon as we get to the house," he told her kissing the top of her head. Nodding she squeezed his hand as he led her down to an escalator.
"My parents are supposed to meet us down at baggage claim," he said as they stepped onto the moving steps. Rounding the corner to the baggage claim area Evaline smiled when she saw Rudy's parents.
"Your parents are adorable," she told the boy by her side as she waved to a frantically waving Penny.
"Oh, I'm so excited you two are here," Penny exclaimed, throwing her arms around both Rudy and Evaline, "I guess I should actually say three of you," Penny said backing up as she placed a hand on Evaline's stomach.
Feeling the baby kick Evaline laughed, "Well she seems to be excited too."
"Oh, I felt that," Penny said excitedly. "How was the trip?" Andrew asked. "Good but long," Rudy answered, "I'm gonna grab our suitcase," he told them heading towards the spinning carousel of luggage.
Yawning Evaline covered her mouth, "Sorry. I took a nap on the first flight but that obviously didn't do anything."
"It's nearly one in the morning for you you're allowed to be tired," Andrew replied, "Why don't you two head out to the car and I'll help Rudy find your suitcase," he said, handing the keys to Penny.
Climbing into the car they didn't have to wait long before Andrew and Rudy joined them. As Rudy discussed their trip with his parents Evaline closed her eyes leaning her head on his shoulder.
Blinking awake when she heard Rudy whispering her name while shaking her arm Evaline sat up looking around, "We're home," he told her.
Getting out of the car she followed everyone inside. After saying hello to Henning and taking a tour of the house; they said goodnight and Rudy led her downstairs to his old bedroom.
Dropping her bookbag and purse on the floor Evaline walked around his room, "So this is where you grew up?" she questioned, flicking her finger at a little Star Wars figurine on his desk. "You sound like you're judging me right now," he replied from where he was opening the suitcase on the floor.
"I would never judge you. Although I am curious as to how many girls you've had down here?" she teased. Pulling out a pair of sweatpants Rudy stood to face her, "You'd be the first to spend the night," he responded.
