"What do we have?" called the emergency room doctor as Evaline was wheeled in on a gurney, with Rudy walking next to her holding her hand.

"Evaline Smith, twenty two year old female about 14 weeks pregnant. Felt a pop and then blood. Blood pressure is 140 over 90, pulse 80," announced the EMT, "pushed fluids in route."

"Alright, exam room 4 is open," the doctor pointed down the hall and Evaline was wheeled back to the room. "Sir, we can either move her or you can move her from the gurney to the bed," the EMT told Rudy.

"I'll move her," Rudy decided as he lifted Evaline up and placed her onto the bed. "Good luck," the EMT said, before wheeling the gurney out of the room. Clamping down on Rudy's arm Evaline didn't let go of the blonde boy.

"Hello, Evaline, I'm Dr. Barnett. How are we feeling? Any pain or discomfort?" the doctor asked, walking into the room. Shaking her head Evaline told her she felt perfectly fine. "Okay, well that's a good sign," Barnett assured her.

"So we're going to hook you up to our fancy machines here," the doctor told her, as a nurse came in, "This first one here will monitor the baby's heartbeat, and then we'll also be able to monitor you to see if you're having any contractions."

The moment the machine was hooked up and Evaline could hear the baby's heartbeat she let out a relieved sob, burying her face into the side of Rudy's arm. "That's the baby, right?" Rudy questioned, looking at the doctor.

"It is," the doctor confirmed, "Sounds strong. So we'll monitor you for contractions and I'm gonna do an ultrasound to see if we can determine where the blood came from. Who's your normal doctor?" she asked, writing the information down when Evaline answered.

"If you have someone who can bring you a change of clothes you can have them do so. That way you're not stuck with one of our hospital gowns," the nurse suggested as she strapped a band around Evaline's stomach.

"Chase was supposed to follow us here, but I can text him to go pick you up clothes," Rudy told her as he pulled out his phone. Reluctantly Evaline let him go so he could walk a few feet away to use his phone.

"Okay, so we're going to do an abdominal ultrasound to look for anything suspicious. If that doesn't show anything we'll do an ultrasound to look closer at the baby," the doctor said as the nurse brought over yet another machine.

Laying back on the bed Evaline watched Rudy text her brother as the doctor ran the ultrasound wand around her. Putting his phone away he glanced up giving her a slight smile when he saw her watching him before walking back over and taking her hand.

"Hey, Pretty Girl," he greeted her, pressing a kiss on her forehead. "Sir, here's a stool if you'd like to sit down," the nurse offered to Rudy. "Thanks," he responded, pulling it over as close to the hospital bed as he could.

Not finding anything with the ultrasound the doctor decided to do an ultrasound to look at the baby. "We need you to drink all of this within ten minutes," she told Evaline as the nurse handed her what looked like a gallon of water, "And then we need to wait another hour before we can take a look at the baby. So get comfortable. I'll be back to check on you in a little while," the doctor said before leaving the room.
