"So this is a labor and delivery room," the Lamaze teacher, Nurse Nicole, told the small group as she took them on the hospital tour, "This is where you'll be once you're in active labor. After that you'll be moved to a regular room through those doors," she told them pointing towards the set of locked safety doors.
Biting her lip Evaline looked around at everything as she held Rudy's hand. This was starting to become real now.
Following the group they headed down the corridor. "And this is the nursery," Nurse Nicole announced pushing through a set of doors where on the other side of the glass was a few bassinets with newborns in them.
"The bassinets are fully stocked and you are allowed to take anything in them home with you," Nicole was saying, "So let's head back to the classroom and we'll go over some breathing exercises," she told the group as she led them back out into the corridor.
"How we doing?" Rudy whispered. "Petrified," she responded. "Makes two of us," he replied, squeezing her hand.
After spending another hour learning about the Lamaze breathing they left the hospital and stopped for dinner on the way home. Once they ordered Evaline brought up Christmas with their friends, "We have to get their presents," she reminded him.
"I got Chase. Who did you get again?" he asked. "Madison," she replied, "Do you have anything going on this weekend? We could go to the mall," she suggested.
"What are you getting her? A new vibrator?" he questioned, laughing. "Stop!" she laughed. "You're laughing too," he pointed out.
"Well I'll probably get her something dirty, but I feel like a vibrator might be too personal."
"You two are pretty personal," Rudy commented.

"I can't believe you talked me into eating street food," Evaline laughed shoving French fries into her mouth.
"Well I had to sit through lactating nipples and plugged ducts so you had to come here with me," Madison responded taking a bite out of her ear of corn.
"The decorations they put up for Christmas are beautiful," Evaline said, looking around downtown Charleston.
"Thank you for going with me tonight," Evaline said, looking at her friend. "Of course," Madison responded, smiling, "I'm always up for learning new things."
"Well I don't think when you came to South Carolina you thought you'd be learning about the best way to unplug a blocked milk duct," Evaline responded.
"I'd have to say that one was a surprise," Madison agreed, "Can you believe it's all coming to an end?"
"No, I feel like I just got here," Evaline told her, "Last night when we were touring the hospital it all became real. Like I'm gonna have a baby before the end of this month. You guys have the show coming out and have interviews to do, which sounds so crazy."
