Jungkook first person POV:
Switching off the light and opening the door, I walk back into the room. The thought of something as simple as watching a movie with my soulmate was enough to keep a smile on my face since the moment we broke from our embrace. But as I walk back into the room, my smile drops instantly and I freeze in my tracks.
Sitting on my bed is my soulmate with a deep and busy look on her face, papers scattered around her. No, not papers, sketches, artwork, my artwork... of her.
Blood drains from my face, and I feel ice flooding through my entire body, freezing me in place.
How did-
The dark eyes of Diana flick up and find mine, glancing back down to the sketches held in her hands and back at me a few times before they settle on my face and don't move again. "What, what are these?" she asks in a whisper-soft and yet solid voice. But her tone seems neither angry nor upset, and I feel the tension in my shoulders drop slightly.
"They're-" I start and gulp. Hesitantly I take a step closer, then another, until I'm standing right up next to the bed. "They're mine..."
"I gathered that much," Diana huffs a small laugh and warms the ice in my veins. "But, what... are they?"
Sighing, I question with my eyes and she gives me a small nod, and I take a seat on the bed in front of her. "They were all I could do."
Still puzzled, my soulmate tilts her head at me, but then reaches out a hand and brushes two fingers over my hand. "Tell me."
Taking a deep breath, I answer "When we first became friends, I tried to be happy with that, tried not to wish for more, but I just couldn't get you out of my head. And the more time we spent together, the more I thought about you when you weren't there, the more I missed you. And eventually I..." I trail off and take one of the drawings of her in my hand. This image is a dark silhouette of her walking away, the way she always had to before. "I drew you."
Diana nods and picks up another of the drawings in her hand, a side profile of the way she looked when I put that white flower in her hair up on the roof. "You tried to draw me out of your head?"
I nod and shift my eyes to another, of my soulmate lying in the grass with stars reflecting in her eyes.
"And how'd that work for you?" she huffs another small laugh, helping me calm.
"Terribly," I answer and meet her eyes again. "There was never enough paper to draw on, never enough moments to sketch. Nothing I did, no artwork or reasoning. it was never enough."
Diana nods again, and her fingers reach to lift a sketch of her looking over her shoulder and smiling, but the smile isn't a happy one, and raw pain lingers in her eyes, both drawn and real. "I look so sad," she whispers and it makes my heart clench. "I look so... distant."
Lifting her eyes to meet mine, I stare into her dark orbs and find such sorrow there. "Is that how I look to you?" she asks quietly.
Shaking my head slightly, I breathe out a silent breath. "That's the way I looked at you when we didn't know, when I thought I could never be with you, when I thought you had a different tattoo from mine."
Diana lets out a shaky breath and closes her eyes in small nods.
"I-I'm sorry," I whisper and scooch closer to place my hand over her knee. I hate it when she gets sad. I hate it even more that I'm the one who made her feel this way.
