mark and gwen hadn't got some time alone since having kids and both being so involved in their work.

the two just wanted some time alone with each other.

so they both decides that today they're gonna have a date like good old times.

so, at the moment, gwen stood in a pretty black dress at the nurses station.

she had a surgery so she had to change here at the hospital quickly.

"you look stunning." mark compliments his wife wrapping his arms around her. "i've got the prettiest wife on earth."

"oh, stop it." gwen giggles when she felt his breath on her neck. "but thank you."

"what are you still doing? i thought we wanted to go for dinner." mark furrows his brows as gwen filled out her last paper.

"oh, no, that's... i'm finished. just ten seconds." gwen holds up a hand making him chuckle.

he knew that gwen was a workaholic.

"hey, sheperd." alex suddenly greets from her right with jo on his side holding two coffees.

"uh, back away, karev. she's off duty." mark warns him.

he didn't want alex to pull gwen into a surgery or to a patient.

it was their night.

"i was gonna say you look nice, but whatever." alex corrects with a small nod.

"aw, thank you." gwen smiles. "it's date night."

"yeah, listen, we've been on opposite schedules for weeks, and with the kids and yang winning an award, we haven't got that much time together. so if we don't take the time to sit down and eat a meal together and remember why we chose to be married, she will kill me." mark tells alex making him chuckle nervously.

"no sweat. i've got everything handled." alex assures gwen. "enjoy your night."

"thank you." gwen smiles. "you're amazing."

then the couple walked away with linked hands.

they walked to the elevator when gwen got called again by someone.

she turned to see cristina in her casual clothes walking up to her.

"hey, cristina, i thought you were already in boston?" gwen asks confused.

she turned fully to her while mark leaned against the doorframe of the elevator.

"no, i wanted to go to joe's. you know to write my speech. maybe you want to help me?" cristina asks her.

"i can't. date night." gwen had to cancel her offer.

"come on, meredith and alex have to work. and you would be the only one who really had to write this speech yourself." cristina begs.

"i really can't." gwen shakes her head. "but i have a tip for you. be yourself. show emotion but not to much. just be you. be cristina yang."

"that's no tip for me at all." cristina states making gwen chuckle.

"goodnight, cristina." gwen smiles as mark finally was able to hit the elevator button.

"hey, sorry, but i told the mcneil's to get you paged when something's happen." cristina informs her before turning around.

"seriously?" mark mutters as the two entered the elevator.

"nothing will happen." gwen assures him. "we will have our date."
