The squad stared at Asta who was in a daze on the couch of their squad house. "Asta hasn't moved at all, huh?" Luck questioned, "He's like a doll."

"I-Is he breathing?" Grey questioned.

"He's breathing, but his soul definitely gone. It must've been a real shock that he couldn't win." Noelle said.

"After the battle was over..." Magna said and remembered was Asta said to Yuno, "I can't blame him, though. That pretty boy gave him a clear show of how different their ability levels are. And took his girl on top of that."

"[Y/n] is not his girl!" Noelle, Gauche, and Luck yelled.

"The shock of realizing his rival had surpassed him over time must've been huge." Gauche said, "I know exactly how he feels." And rambled on about how much he missed his sister and [Y/n].

"I-I'm sure that not the same thing." Grey said while the other nodded.

"I know! I'm gonna ambush him!" Luck cheered, "I'm sure he'll feel better after risking his life in battle."

Magna and Noelle stopped him. "Hold on a second! Fighting's not going to make him feel better right now!" Noelle said.

"We'll never know unless we try!" Luck said

"We most certainly know!"

"He'll die!"

While they argued, a drunken Vanessa tried to talk to Asta, but he was still in a daze. "What the hell, Vanessa?" Magna said.

"Vanessa...She's pushing herself so hard to be cheerful just to cheer up Asta in [Y/n]'s absence." Grey said.

"Yeah, she's just putting on a brave face. I also put on a brave face when I can't see my precious Marie." Gauche said.

"W-We should also put on our brave faces and act chipper." Grey said.

"You're right. Let's cheer Stupidasta up." Noelle agreed.

"Yeah! That means I can attack him, right?" Luck asked.

"No!" Noelle yelled, but Luck did it anyway. He kicked Asta in the face. "I told you not to do that! A-Are you alive, Stupidasta?"

Asta stood up as if nothing happened, still in a daze. "Hey, I think it's about time." Luck said.

"Huh?"

"For the results of the Royal Knight Selection Exam! I'm sure the messenger owl will be by any minute." Luck said.

"Oh...right." Asta muttered.

"Yeah, it should be any time now." Magna said and wrapped his arm around Asta's shoulder, "Asta! If you pass, you'll catch up that that cool pretty boy in no time. Catch up and surpass him."

"Do you really think I passed, though?" Asta asked, "I mean, I ended up withdrawing."

"I'm sure you'll fine." Vanessa said with a laugh.

"Yeah, Stupidsta. Believe in yourself a little more." Noelle said.

"Noelle..."

"I mean, my team came in second, so I definitely passed. You saw how talented I am." She continued.

"Wha? The only reason you guys came in second is because of the pretty boy." Magna said.

"What did you say, you stupid delinquents who lost because of your own magic?!"

"What the hell did you say?! You've got some nerve, talking like that to your senior?! And who are you calling a delinquent?!"
