Once Caleb and Hershel arrived, along with Bob, they examined Patrick and Harvey's bodies; going into detail over how it looked to be a type of virus, as if we didn't have enough of those going around already.
"Hell, he was jus' eating at the barbecue yesterday." Daryl shook his head with regret, looking down to Harvey as we all circulated around him. "How could somebody die in a day jus' from a cold?"
"I had a sick pig, died quick. Saw a sick boar in the woods." Rick spoke up, as he was crouched over the body opposite me.
"Pigs an birds, that's how these things spread in the past." Hershel stated, hands in his pockets. "We need to do something about those hogs."
"Maybe we got lucky." Caleb intervened. "Maybe these two cases are it—"
"No." I cut in, pushing myself up into a standing position. "Harvey kept himself to himself, he didn't particularly mix with people." Earning everyones confused expressions, so I simplified it. "Germaphobe."
"He picked a wrong time to be afraid of dirt." Merle snickered, as he leant against the metal railings.
Narrowing my eyebrows slightly, I continued. "Point being, if Patrick was the first to catch it and Harvey didn't have any physical interactions with others, didn't share anything, we have to assume this thing could be airborne."
"Which means we've all been exposed." Rick finished for me.
"We need to hold a council meeting." I stated, taking my gaze to Hershel who was already brimming with concern. "We don't want to risk cross contamination, so- Carol an Sasha, they're the only ones that haven't been exposed directly."
"Then we hold it outside, we could use the arena?" Hershel suggested.
"Hey, guys." Shane called out, causing me to jump over the body and move to the edge of the handrails, finding my brother at the bottom of the stairs. "There's a bit of a crowd circulatin' outside, they wanna know what's goin' on."
"I'll sort it." I reassured, giving him a firm nod.
"What do we even say to them?" Glenn raised a valid question, when we all know so little ourselves.
"Really we need to hold a meeting before we give out any speech, we need to go over every aspect of this, every cause, every solution. Make sure we get it right." I expressed deeply.
"I'll talk to them." Rick spoke strongly, although I could sense his unease over taking on such a vital task, not wanting to fall into the ropes of leadership anytime soon.
"You sure?" I asked gently.
"Yeah, I'll calm them down, get them to ease off until you're all ready." My lover explained.
"Thank you." Hershel praised, somewhat proudly as he rested his hand on Rick's shoulder before taking off down the stairs.
"Bob, can you help Caleb with this body?" I asked, remembering I still needed to have a talk with him after the incident at the Big Spot.
