Six Months Since Negan's Imprisonment.

"...Theo Carl Grimes."

He wriggled, watching me with his bright blue eyes as his grip on my finger tightened by only a minimal amount that only a mother could pick up on. I laughed inwardly, finding myself grinning from ear to ear as he did. My angel... he is a smiley baby.

"He's got his mom's beauty," Rick mused.

"He's got his daddies eyes." I returned the compliment, smiling across at him as I watched a slight smirk merge onto his face.

I gave birth just over a month ago and I did not intend on doing it again any time soon. But that didn't matter once I saw him; he looked just like his dad, having his crystal blue eyes... and his nose. Unable to break myself away from who had become the light of my life, I kept myself hanging over the cot and let my eyes trail over his tiny features.

"I should get goin' if I wanna make it back to Alexandria before the sun sets." Rick alerted me.

"Why don't you stay the night?" I asked.

"You don't have the room." He tried to remind me, except I hadn't forgotten.

"I have a couch in my room, the offer's there if you want it." I smiled lightly.

We had rebuilt the Sanctuary like I said we would, and it was very much packed with life. We were now farming our own produce, helped by the manure of the animals we were now keeping, intending to breed as the seasons go on; something Hershel taught me back at the prison was how manure was full of nutrients and minerals, and was a perfect element to help your crops grow. Which, in our case, was necessary since our grounds weren't exactly enriched with good soil. We were currently working on building a solid structure around the Sanctuary, mainly made from steel, similar to Alexandria's perimeter with a few adjustments and accessories here and there; all of which was being organised by Ezra and his team. This would act as a much more stable defence against the outside world instead of simply relying on some wired fencing. And the Sanctuary itself had been completely transformed. The great halls had been reconstructed into separate rooms, offering spaces for families. All of the meeting rooms had been developed into extra bedrooms. There was no longer an upstairs downstairs system in place, everyone could go wherever they pleased as long as they weren't invading another persons private space. We had developed the back of the Sanctuary, taking over the randomly abandoned buildings and turning them into useful plots. Ezra had turned one of them into a blacksmiths, which is were a lot of the production for the wall was coming together. We had a food bank for everyone to take as they pleased. We had a well stocked library, which is where we also held schooling sessions for the children. We had a separate building for what I would class as an office, which is where we conducted meetings and any other business. And we now had a training arena, filled with weapons, weights, and a self made challenge area which consisted of several foot tall wooden beams to practice on your balance when fighting etc. It was where we trained everyone up to defend themselves and others. Some of the sections to it were difficult, but necessary. In a way, the Sanctuary had become a small town. It was vibrant, thriving on life. It was the complete opposite of what it was. It was now a home, one people felt safe and secure in.
